Cork Train Station Guesthouse

-location! Brilliant idea to have a guesthouse above the working train station -hosts-they were the loveliest people -breakfast was amazing -windows-somehow you couldn’t hear the trains passing! -basically you get two rooms - I could do morning yoga in a room

Honestly nothing. One of the best stays. Highly recommended for solo travellers.

It’s very original to be able to sleep above the train station. We loved that the kitchen and saloon were in the middle of the rooms, it makes it very accessible even for a late evening tea. Decoration was on point and the space was very well used. Felt right at home. Breakfast was also very big and colorful, it tasted like heaven ! The host, Marina and Andri were also super attentive and making sure to be as accommodating as possible. Parking is plenty available in the street since you can use the spots from the Train Station and check in is through key boxes so you can come at any time.

One of the room was a bit warmer and there was no air conditioning… in the night, construction workers happened to be fixing some train rails with heavy machinery and so opening the window was just unthinkable… it lasted until 2h30 but after that NTD. After speaking to the host they were very apologetic and said that nobody had even warned them about that. It was as I understood it, simply a one time thing.

I liked the very personal approach of Mariana and Andre, I loved the style of the property, location. You have also the parking place available if needed and easy to get to Aveiro or Porto by train.

I cannot say what I did not like, I liked everything, just for some people who are sensitive of noise, you are really staying at the active/operating Train station :-)
