Sea view villa Manolis with private pool near the beach

This is a fabulous villa with pool. The views from the balcony are amazing day and night. The owners are lovely and there are great places to eat and drink near by. We have stayed here multiple times.

Clean and spacious villa - open-plan kitchen / living area with high ceilings. Modern shower room and second bathroom. Nice views from both bedrooms, which open onto a shared balcony. Set in the middle of majestic olive groves on top of a walkable hill, with amazing panoramic views of the mountains and the bay from the balconies. Decent pool - big enough for kids (about 7x3.5m / 1.3-1.8m depth). Sun bathing within the well-maintained gardens and olive trees was a delight. The villa feels very private. Good, moderately sized supermarket at the bottom of the hill. Great location for exploring the region. Koumos museum is literally round the corner and is absolutely enchanting! Lots of strolls along the beach, and walks along the breakwater paths into Kalyves, which has a traditional, chilled feel and some decent tavernas (Prolvita was a favourite). The nearest beach (5min walk), Kolatsos, and its tavernas are perfect - really chilled - not too busy but busy enough, with white sand, clean and (mostly) calm water and a freshwater river running into the sea - very picturesque! 25min drive to Chania which is lively and beautiful with top quality restaurants (meze!), and 40min drive to the Botanical Garden of Crete which is absolutely stunning! Loads of charming villages and beaches within short driving distances. Great hosts, who live next door, so are always nearby if help is needed - the one issue we had on our first day was dealt with immediately.

We moved the sofas and dining table around so the TV area felt more homely - but that's just personal preference, and easily done. The crickets can occasionally make a bit of noise when sat around the pool, but only at certain times and they become background noise within a day. They generally add to the naturalistic charm of the place as well. The villa sits on top of a hill, so although it's only a 5 minute walk (to beach / supermarket), it's a little steep at points - which was not a problem for us at all, and is perfectly ok for anyone fit and able, but if mobility is an issue it may be necessary to have a car, and also for any larger hauls from the supermarket, which although doable, could be a bit of a slog at the hottest times of the day - the trade off is of course those amazing views!

The villa had gorgeous views surrounded by olive grows and also felt very spacious.

Die Unterkunft ist sehr schön und geschmackvoll eingerichtet und sauber. Die Aussicht von den beiden Terrassen ist wunderschön. Der Kontakt zum Gastgeber (über Textnachrichten) war immer sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Für unsere Kinder wurde sogar neues Sandspielzeug bereitgestellt. Eine wirklich schöne Villa zum Wohlfühlen!

Wir waren im Oktober dort bei durchschnittlichen Tageshöchsttemperaturen von 23 Grad. Da war es abends und morgens doch sehr kühl, so dass es sich lohnt Hausschuhe dabei zu haben für den kalten Plattenboden. Die Klimaanlage konnte zum Glück auch heizen und die Betten hatten kuschlige Decken. Die Terrassen sind ganztags im Schatten, was für den Sommer bestimmt super ist, im Herbst allerdings recht kühl. Der Pool ist schön gross und tief (bis 1.80), da er jedoch (zumindest im Herbst) bis 12 Uhr im Schatten ist, ist das Wasser darin recht kalt (kälter als das Meer).
