#1 You can't get any closer to the Beach

This house has so much potential! Our first impression upon arrival was that it is in dire need of a deep clean. Although the cleaning crew was just finishing up, and it was obvious they had completed a surface clean, complete with fresh linens and towels, there was still quite a bit of dirt and dust everywhere else. There were a few drips of a mystery liquid in the fridge that could have easily been wiped away. We even found a pair of jeans in a drawer that had obviously been left by a previous tenant. This house is extremely dated (though does that really matter?), and if Joanna Gaines got a hold of it, could turn it into the most charming bungalow, but it is in need of some repairs. Three slats of the vertical blinds fell off randomly, and a door handle to one of the bedrooms came right off in our hands when opening the door. The bedroom that shows a full bed with the two bunks really is a full bed with one single, as the top bunk would only comfortably sleep Flat Stanley. It is VERY close to the ceiling. The bedroom with the king bed was very comfortable. The one bathroom in that part of the house could definitely use a new toilet, sink and shower. It was hard to tell the dirt from the scratches. The toilet seat did not seem very sturdy. The mother-in-law suite just feet across the courtyard was a great extra space with a comfortable bed. It had a pull-out couch, but upon pulling it out, quickly put it back, as it has obviously not been cleaned in quite some time. The shower in that bathroom did not work right and it was full of sand. We were, however, very grateful to the owners for providing a football, volleyball and boogie boards! What we wished they had provided was tissue, another roll of paper towels and a lot more toilet paper! We were only given one roll for each bathroom, and with eight people, that was not enough. When we requested more, only one more roll was dropped off. We went through that quickly, because we were also using it for tissue, so we actually had a waitress bring us a roll to take home after dinner one night! The property manager does answer questions via the messaging on VRBO, but can take a few days to get back to you. She did answer the phone when we finally got her number in the book provided in the house. There was plenty of outdoor seating (though that furniture, too, needed a good cleaning). None of this negates the absolutely AMAZING location! We had a great time!
