B&B Tantine

Great place. Very cozy interior. Wonderful owners. Excellent service. No extraneous noises.

We decided to stay within a short drive of Turnhout in quiet surrounds. B&B Tantine is a gem, the property is surrounded by stunning, peaceful gardens, everyting is immaculately maintained and spotlessly clean. The centre of Retie is nearby Our room overlooked the garden, room was compact and well appointed with comfortable beds. Internet worked well. Breakfast is delicious and included eggs and bacon if desired, we especially enjoyed the locally made apple juice with lemon and ginger. The dining area is beautiful and I also enjoyed reading outdoors in the garden. The owners who hosted us were gracious and friendly. We noticed many people cycling in the area and this would be a perfect location to explore the area. I wish we could have stayed for more than 2 nights.

Nice quiet location, room was beautiful and very well equipped. The breakfast was excellent! Lot's of choices in drinks as well as food! Furthermore, the owners were very friendly and helpful!

Like said, it was a great venue. The only thing I missed was an airco. The day we were there it was quite hot, so the night was difficult to fall asleep due to the heat.

The owners are very kind, subtly attentive and polite. The building and grounds are beautiful and extremely well kept. The rooms have very comfortable beds and pillows. All rooms have clever key fobs that work for the room and front door. There is a breakfast lounge come bar, which although I didn’t use it, in the evening you can have a drink and leave a note to say what you’ve had (I like this honesty system). The owners are clearly breakfast people and take huge pride in making it special and it really was. There was a lot to choice from and all clearly excellent quality food and drink. Afterwards I was also given two cakes with a takeaway bag, really nice touch. There is a coffee machine in the room with high quality cups which are branded and match the sugar and cream (I like those touches). They have animals (two goats and a donkey) in an adjacent field) so if you stay with children they will love that. There is an elegant style and attention to detail about all aspects of the place. I will definitely stay again, will look forward to it.

Some things that could be added; softer loo roll (although suspect this may be due to the big focus in the hotel on sustainability/environment), some carpet tread to quieten the stairs a little and maybe a small shelf in the shower but really if they are the gripes, im really having to look hard to find them! I would love it if they also did evening meals even pre-prepared self service from a fridge, as if the breakfast if anything to go by, the food would be fantastic.

Location, Staff, general feel of the place & a great garden. It was nice to have a small bar area where you can sit either inside or outside on a deck where the breakfast was served. Easy to get to off the main road.

I would give a 10 if there was a restaurant. Although there is a nice brasserie around 15 minutes walk away where I had an excellent meal.

Very nice hosts, cosy B&B! Perfect breakfast! An absolute recommendation!
