Needs completely gutting and redecorating!

Location.

Facilities were very tired/ broken/run down. Photos on booking.com were very old and misleading (when the apartment was first converted probably). The bathroom sink was cracked all over. Only one bathroom and combined toilet could only be accessed via a bedroom (fine for a family but not for a mixed group). Cabinets/beds/ furniture was broken and cobbled with bits of old mdf. Pillows were very very old and lumpy. Towels were thread bare. Shower was either scalding hot or freezing cold and kept alternating. Top floor stairs had a lip and presented a serious trip hazard. To be honest, for my family of four, I would rather have stayed elsewhere further out, a place that was clean and tidy.

Ups & downs

The location is magnificent

Keys must be collected about 20 mins’ walk away … dragging bags across very bumpy/noisy cobblestones. There are three apartments and the photos are all mixed up. Apartment number two had been rented to an incredibly noisy group of girls whose rowdiness even stopped passersby in the noisy streets below. there are mosquitoes, and no fan or mosquito protection provided. Chicken wire and warning signs on the window are not particularly nice, but is probably wise given the aforementioned rowdiness of many guests here. Thank goodness I'm not a resident of Central Antwerp! There is no luggage storage before or after arrival, and their recommendation of a place called "Smart Urban" does not exist on maps. Basically, you have to go back to Central Station and pay €11. Oh, and the microwave that appears in their video does not work; found this out only after having brought home a meal that could not be heated in an oven.

A wasted opportunity - though it has potential

Good location. Quite comfortable beds. Near plenty of restaurants.

The entrance area is not clean. There are a lot of narrow, twisting stairs to access the apartment, which makes it unsuitable for those carrying large suitcases or people with mobility issues. There are bare wires protruding from the wall next to the entrance door, which could be dangerous. Inside the apartment, the decor is tired and shabby. The kitchen is not well-equipped (the dishwasher is unusable). There is a defective electrical socket in the upper room. The bathroom is perhaps the worst feature - the washbasin is cracked in many places, and is therefore unhygeinic. The water runs out of the washbasin so slowly that scum and debris collects. There was no hot water in the washbasin. The shower also had very little hot water. It ran cold almost all the time. The lavatory was satisfactory. The whole place needs renovating. It could be a lovely place to stay but we cannot recommend it in its present condition. The lack of hot water was particularly annoying. At night there was a certain amount of external noise, but this could be expected in an area where there are lots of restaurants, etc. More annoying was the beat from loud music played within the building, often during the night or early morning. It was unfortunate that this property did not fulfil our expectations.

Great location - Run down with little amenities - Would not stay again

The apartment did not show as it had appeared in the photos on the booking. There were no fans provided, 3 flights of stairs that were not included in the description. We paid for the night before as we were arriving early the next morning, and even though we paid we were not able to pick up the keys till 2pm. This was frustrating.

Great location, but photos are misleading. The apartment feels tired and unloved.

The location was really central and great for getting around Antwerpen. Beautiful architecture and handy for restaurants and bars. Close to underground car parking, but make sure that you collect the keys before you arrive as the office is located about 20mins walk away from the apartment, which is easy to get to by car but once you have parked, you will not want to get out and drive again. We parked in Groenplaats first and then collected keys and bags. The videos provided are helpful. We stayed for 1 night only.

The location is very noisy at night. This was made worse as one of the windows in the main are could not be closed properly. As there is no air conditioning, it gets warm but you can't keep a window open and it smells of food being prepared from the restaurants. The property is also very noisy from people returning to other apartments. The sound proofing is poor. We thought that someone had actually come into the apartment. The hot water did not work so no hot showers for 4 people, or hot water in the wash basin which was not great. The water did not drain away in the shower. One toilet roll. There were no information leaflets about transport/sightseeing/restaurant recommendations which would have all been nice additions. Generally the apartment felt a bit grubby and unloved, which is a shame as the building itself is beautiful.

The terrace with the view on the cathedral was not accessible, I hope they will make it accessible for future guests as it is a great perk of this property.

great convenient location - would bring more layers if staying in winter time. but would definitely stay again because o

fantastic location. in the centre beside the cathedral. staff were great when we connected the key - from an office 10 mins away at 2pm. google maps helped greatly once we first found the property and then walked from there to the collection point.

there were 3 of us staying there. in the cutlery drawer there was one knife one large spoon and one knife. the towels were very past their sell by date. no bin in the bathroom. and it was extremely cold throughout the night once temperatures dipped outside - is was the end of January so temps were quite low

Central Antwerp substandard apartment. Not for the faint hearted

The location was right beside the Cathedral in centre of Antwerp.

This apartment is a fire trap and needs to be inspected by the city authorities to ensure the owner brings it up to standards required for travellers to safely sleep and exit building in event of a fire or other emergency. It should be taken off the booking.com listing.

No hot water, no heating in December. Very disappointing for a very nice apartment in city center.

Real city center. Nice design of the apartment. But without hot water for showering and heating is not so lovely experience. It a pity.

No hot water for showering on the second day of stay and the next morning. No heating at the same time (While it's only 3 degrees outside). Ventilation noise from the restaurant below throughout the night. The apartment has only one toilet and WC in its 115 square meters and is located on the first of three levels, so from the attic on the third level you have a problem with transportation to the toilet. The apartment is located in the very center and it's a shame for the shortcomings that are really without justification. The request for hot water was not fulfilled, and the answer arrived 5 hours later, after I was already on my way to the airport.

Good for big groups but lacks a lot of quality and attention to detail.

The location was unbeatable, as you are surrounded by amazing restaurants, nightlife and beautiful historical buildings. The staff attended to our request to fix the heater and was very friendly.

The stairs to get to the room, the door locks were a bit cumbersome, the smell of fried food from the restaurant downstairs, the lack of a functional heater the first night, the only bathroom is downstairs (which is tough if you stay in the loft because it is 2 flight of steep stairs), the stairway light inside didn't work, the mirror fell down (it was just sitting precariously on the sink) and the faucet in the bathroom was extremely loose.

The location is really nice, the apartment can host a lot of people. Meets all basic needs. Good value for money.

Needs some basic repairs - shower drains very slowly, showerhead unstable, mirror in the bathroom falling, sink in bathroom cracked. Because of location can be noisy and smelly (restaurants underneath). The place is organised to host as many people as possible, but there is only on bathroom/toilet.

top location and lots of space, rental agency quick to respond to an issue

difficult to say - we managed the difficult to open front door and the steep staircase ok but were tired after lugging our suitcases there as there is no close by parking. the smell of fried things in the apartment was overwhelming as it came from nearby restaurants and together with the fact that the whole place is on the run down side with hardly any personal note or decorations made it a bit difficult to feel at home there.

De locatie is gewoonweg top. Foto’s komen overeen met de daadwerkelijke accommodatie.

Grootste minpunt was dat ‘t ontzettend koud was… We verbleven 1 nacht, van Kerstavond op eerste Kerstdag. Kerstavond met 3 jonge kindjes daar gevierd. Maar dit was toch ietwat ‘n domper, met -2 graden buiten konden we niet zelf de woning binnen verwarmen. We konden enkel bij ‘n paar verwarmingen de knoppen opendraaien, maar doordat we nergens via ‘n thermostaat de temperatuur konden regelen haalde dit niks uit en bleef ‘t koud. We zijn daarom naar de meest onderste verdieping gegaan hopende dat daar de kou iets minder ijzig was, en met z’n allen op 1 bed pakjesavond doorgebracht. Vervolgens met slapen, dit was op de meest bovenste etage, hebben we alle dekens gepakt die er te vinden waren in de woning. Ook was ‘t ‘n beetje jammer dat er geen televisie beschikbaar was, dit was niet zo duidelijk terug te vinden dat deze er niet was. Maar nu is dat nog niet zo’n ramp omdat we maar 1 nacht verbleven en de avond om hebben gekregen met andere activiteiten. Ook was ‘t jammer, zie foto, dat de buiten patio er erg verwilderd uitzag. Dit deed toch wel afbreuk aan ‘t uitzicht op de kathedraal, wat voor ons een van de grootste redenen was dat we hier geboekt hadden. Ook had je geen toegang tot de buiten patio doordat de deurklink ontbrak. Nu is dat hartje winter nog geen ramp, maar even naar buiten gaan om van het uitzicht te genieten of in de zomer lekker buiten willen relaxen zit er daarom dus niet in.

City trip met het gezin met 3 kinderen op een prachtige locatie in een mooi appartement wat één op fris moment nodig hee

De accommodatie ligt echt op een top locatie. Echt hartje centrum/ onder de kathedraal. Alles is daardoor dichtbij/ goed te lopen. Dat biedt zo veel vreugde, daardoor kijk je wat makkelijk door de gebreken van de accommodatie heen. Het appartement is prima. Helaas zie je wel dat het appartement goed ‘geleefd’ is door eerdere gasten. Het is niet vies (de schoonmaker had het appartement stof vrij/ schoon achter gelaten) maar het appartement kent veel gebruik schade. De vloer is faal, de keuken is veel gebruikt, je ziet kras plekken op de muren, de kitranden in de badkamer kunnen wel een opfrisbeurt gebruiken. Veel van dit soort ‘gebruik’ plekken zijn zichtbaar. Dat lees je ook in andere recensies. Het appartement heeft veel bedden dus dat geeft snel een soort hostel effect. Dat zie je dan ook terug in het appartement. Het is iets wat je makkelijk kan negeren als je puur het appartement gebruik om te overnachten. Omdat alles om de hoek is is de aannamen dat je veel buitenhuis zal eten/ verblijven!

Hoe ‘het gebruikt’ is. Hoe het overkomt alsof er al jaren geen verfje op de muur is aangebracht. Hoe de ramen smoezelig ogen, dat het appartement daardoor vies oogt terwijl het niet vies is. Dat er overal (ook op de ramen) papiertjes hangen met waarschuwingen (alsof je in een hosten bent waar alleen maar jongeren komen). Dat een ruime badkamer is maar dat die ‘kapot’ oogt omdat de wasbak een scheur kent, de vlekken op de muur ziet, het plafon smoezelig oogt.. Dat soort berichten/ papieren op de muren, het gebrek aan een fris verfje op de muur, een nieuwe kit laag, dat neemt een beetje de luxe van het appartement weg. Het is namelijk een hele mooie locatie en het appartement is echt top (3 verdiepingen waarvan de onderste verdieping een slaapkamer/ badkamer is, de tweede de ingang/ keuken/ woonkamer/ zithoek is en de bovenste/ derde een volledige slaapkamer). Het is dus een top appartement maar het oogt als een hostel door dit soort praktijken. Dat is zonde.

Kwamen 1 matras tekort twee keer voor gebeld lang antwoorden maar nog steeds 1 matras tekort 2 nachten daarna nog steeds niks meer van gehoord.

Slechte start: verkeerde sleutel, niemand bereikbaar en tot op heden niet opgelost.

Bij aankomst bleek het appartement al bezet en hadden wij de verkeerde sleutel en dus toegang tot andermans spullen. De verhuurder was onbereikbaar en we moesten noodgedwongen een hotel boeken. Ondanks meerdere meldingen, bewijsstukken en contactpogingen is dit probleem tot op heden niet opgelost. De afhandeling is zeer teleurstellend en onprofessioneel.

- heel veel geluidsoverlast. Meer dan verwacht - appartement erg verouderd, schimmel op de muren, afgebladderde verf enz - douche koud - harde en piepende bedden

Bed maar geen douche en geen contact te krijgen

Irritant was dat de sleutel 2 kilometer verderop gehaald moest worden bleek pas na het boeken. Gelukkig was de locatie wel super, centraal en vlakbij de Grote Markt.

De bedden oke, de hygiëne matig oke, nog wel acceptabel.. Wij waren met een groep van 6 en ik had hiervoor de locatie geboekt. Op dag 1 bleek de thermostaat van de douche alleen op kokend heet te kunnen, daar kom je dan net in de zeep achter. Klacht gemeld en iemand zou dit dezelfde avond nog komen herstellen. Niemand van ons gezelschap van 6 heeft die avond nog kunnen douchen. Volgende dag bleek het euvel nog niet verholpen, klacht weer gemeld, nog steeds een kokende douche. Verschillende keren contact gezocht, ook na vertrek.. de dag erna nog iemand van beheer gesproken. Zou het met de eigenaar gaan bespreken. Niet opgelost en geen enkele actie, alleen vanuit booking.com een kleine coulance. De ejgenaae zegt nu dat alles tiptop in orde was, dat ik pas 15 dagen later melding heb gedaan, terwijl het bewijs daarvan is mee gestuurd, viel me belachelijk gemaakt, is op 2 manieren gemeld (WhatsApp en booking.com app). Vervelendste vond ik nog dat ik heel ons gezelschap niet het basis comfort van een douche heb kunnen bieden, een bed en douche is wel de minimale basis, best wel beschamend als je iets organiseert en daar veel zorg aan hebt besteed. Heb enkele weken de kans gegeven dit netjes op te lossen, niets dus en tijd voor deze recentie zodat eventuele nieuwe gasten weten wat ze kunnen verwachten.

Toffe locatie, in he midden van het centrum

TOP locatie ! De verlichting in onze badkamer werkte niet. Na een telefoontje, stond er 10 minuten later onmiddellijk iemand om dit op te lossen !

Redelijk wat (steile) trappen doen. Inkomhal oogt niet zo prettig (oud, vuil). Het appartement zelf daarentegen was dik in orde !

Het is dat we er alleen maar sliepen. Voor ons niet voor herhaling vatbaar.

Midden in het centrum te zijn was top! Restaurants, Cafes in overvloed. Alles op loopafstand. Zoals toeristische attracties. Opslag koffers in de buurt, wat ook erg prettig is.

De vele trappen die we moesten bewandelen om bij het appartement te komen en de trappen in het appartement zelf. Jammer dat er maar 1 toilet is. Dit was voor de nachten wel een dingetje als je boven sliep, want dan moest je naar beneden naar de andere slaapkamer gaan, stoorfactor bij binnenkomst. Door de slaapkamer heen naar de badkamer. De douche gaf slecht warm water als je met 6 personen achter elkaar gebruik van maakt. Laat staan met 10 personen. Dit appartement, nr 3 is echt verouderd, vergeleken met appartement M en 2.
