Mouldy horror show

The location of the property

Poor communication: Took 2 emails and one phone call to get the lock box number. Then there was no key in it. Had to wait for the cleaner to arrive with hers. Poor cleanliness: Mouldy dishes left in the dishwasher. Dead spider in the microwave Dusty surfaces. Mildew behind the bed headboard. Heavily stained mattress. Broken furniture; Slats missing from the bed Bedroom drawers broken

On arrival, the key box code was blocked … I rang the owner, to assist us with this, however with great force it was released …the key ring holder had jammed inside the box.. No coat rails to hang wet jackets . Front bedroom.. chest of doors jammed, didn’t use these as we were afraid of them falling apart. Coats were hung on doors, shutters, No toilet roll holders..in either bathroom. Toilet seat broken. Ceramic tea pot was broken. Two patios ,unusable as the decking is very unsafe looking. Other users have already reported this in 2022 reviews. The cleaner didn’t check the cupboards before we arrived as there were crumbs in one of them.. One bath mat between 2 bathrooms… Nice to have off street parking ,, however far too tight for 2 cars like advertised. Bring everything.. toilet rolls. Tea,, Coffee etc..

Great location. There is plenty of space in the property. Comfortable for four people. Great kitchen facilities. Clean.

We didn’t receive the key press number in advance and had to wait outside until the owner returned our call to get in. The shower in the main bathroom needs a new hose as this leaked and it was a bit tricky that you couldn’t shower in either bathroom if any other water was running (don’t expect there is much you can do about that!). The upstairs patio furniture is very worn.

Dirty and disappointing.

The location of the property is ideal and I imagine when it was first renovated it was lovely but the property is not being cleaned or managed properly and as a result is dirty and damp and the outdoor areas are damaged and not suitable for guests.

The lack of basic hygiene, mildew and broken beds mostly. A child’s pyjamas, cobwebs, dust and a page with a child’s marker drawing (colours had run on the page due to dampness and age) was found under the mattress. The reason I looked was that when I sat on the end of the bed to put on my socks, the mattress collapsed under me. Turns out the bed frame was broken and missing 2 end lats!! There was also mildew on the inside bed frame and cobwebs all over. The en-suite was disgusting - coffee stains from previous guests, broken tiles, black mould in the grout some sort of grotesque yellow substance on the tiles around the toilet. The smell of damp in the living area when we put on the heat was awful so we didn’t spend long there without the door wide open. The single bed by the window seems to have only a solid midsection and had no mattress support other than a FIBC-type canvas covering, very peculiar and uncomfortable for my daughter who can usually sleep anywhere! On stripping the bed, we saw that the pillows were the ld and stained also. Coffee stains on all the cups, the plates weren’t properly washed either as there were greasy fingerprints on them and 2 bowls had dried in cornflakes stuck to them. I washed everything in the cupboards because we had bought food in M&S on our way up intending to cook meals and have family time. Unfortunately the oven was also filthy, the baking and grill trays had burned in grease which I was unable to get clean. In the end we are out and kept doors and windows open to air the place as much as possible as we could. I suspect that the place was left unheated over the winter months and only the linen and towels were changed prior to our arrival (they were the only things not to smell musty. We avoided the outdoor areas the “courtyard view” is a car park! The outdoor seated area needs cleaning the timbers are rotting and need replacement and some of the concrete step is broken.

Perfect location and wonderful host

Great location, the property owner was very helpful and friendly. The location is unmatched as you are literally right beside the beach and ferry terminal and places to eat.

An amazing wee getaway!

The accommodation was exceptional, it was clean, spacious and has all the facilities you need to enjoy your stay. The owners were lovely and extremely helpful with any information and advice that we needed. The location couldn't be more perfect, a short walk to the beach, localised to shops, pubs, restaurants, takeaways and the harbour. It is also close by to the Giants Causeway etc. Highly recommended, will definitely save this accommodation for next time as we wish to do more travelling!

Poor

Very close to harbour. Very quiet at night.

I'm really sorry to say there were a lot of issues with hygiene. We have photos that show it was quite a big problem. The ensuite had severe mould issues on many tiles, the showerhead was clogged with it. We didn't t use it at all as I have Asthma. The tap on the sink was broken and the plug was absolutely stinking. The radiator was totally rusty at the bottom and two floor tiles were cracked. The white toilet brush was so brown I started wretching. The shower door has an inch gap down it. There was mould on the bottom of the curtains in the main bedroom and downstairs the top of the cookerhood was a sticky mess. It has taken time for the mould to build up to this level, your cleaner needs fired. It can't be a time constraint as guests have to strip beds and leave in bath along with towels when leaving.

Fabulous location in Ballycastle , few mins to harbour and sea front and 10 min walk up the town to great pubs . Apartment very spacious and well equipped .Owner very helpful 😊

En-suite shower room needs revamped. Shower cable not long enough, shower head always points to door and so soaking flower. Sinks in both bathrooms need some attention, plug and handle. Instructions for heating would have been helpful.

•Beds uncomfortable, one of the single beds had a large dip in it. •Large damp patch on ceiling in single room and on suite in main room, looks like property over had a leak. • sofa kept coming apart, and too small for a large big room.

The location to the town centre.

The host's inability to provide the location and pin no for the locked box.A relative and another guest intervened and were able to help.Host given adequate time to provide the pin etc.No heating was available for two nights.Booking.com communication was ignored. Left phone calls and text before action was taken. Overall not a pleasant stay.

A beautiful haven

It was a beautiful Apartment loved everything about it had everything we needed if we needed help with anything they where very quick in replying and helping me with what I needed, the location was perfect just of the harbour and not to far from the town. We loved our stay here and hope to return again.

A lovely apartment but at 61 the stairs were a hinderance. No hesitation in recommending!

Lovely can clean with all facilities and high standard of decor. Perfect location for what we needed.

Layout not ideal since I have problems with stairs, which were quite steep and one would probably need a hand rail on both sides of the staircase. Should be highlighted that definitely not suited for disabled or those with walking difficulties. Heat was on with a long period during the night, which was overpowering.

Just what the doctor ordered and we will be back

Excellent self catering facilities and great location. Lots to see and do within 20 mile radius if you enjoy great beaches, Glenariff Forest, National trust properties and the ‘Boffy Coffee’ for super home baking and snacks.

More TV channels but it is a minor detail and only affected my husband!!! Maybe instructions on how the TV, oven and microwave work. Everyone’s appliances work differently these days.
