Perfect peaceful escape on Elephantine Island: Abazido Guesthouse If you’re looking for a truly relaxing way to spend your holiday in Egypt, Abazido on Elephantine Island is exactly the place. Here you can slow down, unwind by the Nile, listen to roosters and birds in the morning, feel the cool Nile breeze, and watch feluccas sailing gently back and forth. It’s pure joy to enjoy sunshine, delicious food and quiet moments away from the crowds. This Nubian-style guesthouse is far from the busy noise of the main river. It faces the Noble Tombs and Beach Again Kan Park, making the whole area incredibly peaceful. Both the room balconies and the rooftop offer stunning views of the Nile, creating the perfect vacation atmosphere. The rooms are small but spotlessly clean. The host is kind, simple and very thoughtful. Every evening he asks in advance about the next morning’s breakfast time. The room rate is only around 200 RMB and includes a tasty, filling breakfast for two—excellent value for money. You can also hang laundry on the balcony. Thanks to the strong wind and dry air, plus strong afternoon sun, clothes dry completely in just two to three hours, saving on laundry costs. The roads on Elephantine Island can be tricky: muddy paths, sandy ground, and very dark at night. But the guesthouse has its own private pier. Just arrange with the host in advance, and you can take a boat directly to the opposite bank to catch taxis to the airport or bus station—no trouble at all even with heavy luggage. There are also many lovely local restaurants within a few minutes’ walk, offering great views and tasty local food. For a calm, relaxing getaway in Aswan, Elephantine Island and Abazido make an ideal base. I couldn’t have asked for a better place to unwind.

After the hecticness of Cairo and even Aswan, it was a joy to take the ferry over to the quiet Nubian community on Elphantine Island. Ahmed was an amazing host - he and his family made me feel comfortable and Ahmed went out of his way to help me arrange a trip to Abu Simbel (leaving at 3:40am) and to the airport. He also suggested I take their boat over to the Botanical Gardens on my last day - a fantastic place to sit and reflect on my visit and on the desert meeting the Nile. The room was simple, but clean, comfortable and with an amazing view of the Nile. Breakfast on the rooftop terrace set the relaxing mood for each day there. Can't recommend highly enough!

Nothing needs improvement - it was all fantastic. One note of caution, however, is that guest house is about a 10 minute walk from the ferry along dirt paths. This makes it difficult to pull luggage on wheels. Not impossible, but not easy. Be prepared to carry your bag a bit.

The place is very quiet and the view was nice .The room was clean and and owner was quite nice and arranged for our transfer to the airport for a very early morning flight . The bathroom was OK but some sort of shower curtain might be useful so everything ( including toilet paper ) did not get soaked

if you are expecting a quaint village atmosphere you might be disappointed. I guess it depends on your idea of “quaint .” While it was definitely quieter and you did not get hassled all the time on the island ,the “village’ was derelict and quite frankly filthy .I know the owner cannot control that and the area directly around the guesthouse was clean enough .The room as I said was clean but basic .Really only suitable for very short stays
