Keane's Cottage Carriage House is physically connected to Keane's Cottage but is completely separate with it's own entrance and is quiet private. It is very cosy and full of light. The experience is a little like a B&B in that Chris and Marie are your hosts and are there to meet and greet you. They live just a few minutes away. Meals are 'self catering. The location is just over the boarder in Waterford from Cork. Dungarvan (17 minutes), Ardmore (10 minutes) and Youghal (8 minutes)

Owner was in contact straight with a very extensive information package running to several pages. He also contacted us by TELEPHONE directly from the USA! The booklet emphasised the wooden floors (several times) as also he did (several times) which was a tad OTT (or maybe just tor us standoffish Brits). The irish contact however was really helpful and left the key in an agreed place for us.
When we arrived, we were not quite sure which cottage was ours so a sign might be useful.
Upon arrival (we took care with the wooden floors and were) welcomed with bread/milk and teabags. Plenty of storage albeit a bit of lack of "wardrobe" space as it was taken up with heating unit and tumble dryer - did have a large chest of drawers in the other bedroom but this could easily fit an extra wardrobe instead.
Clean linen/bedrooms, plenty of hot water and excellent heating. Beds were extremely comfortable. A few niggles; a broken window in one of the bedrooms, no plug point for the hairdryer near the mirror and the shaver point in bathroom was too high. Shower was hot and powerful albeit very small. I'm a big fellah/1.84m and I struggled to get in and out of it. Coffee machine is confusing but strangely extensive instructions on how to use the simple washing machine.
TV was poor - all British and no Irish channels and reception went completely for last 2 days
Furniture on blocks of wood (another reminder to "protect the floors") - the obession of which made it a little hard to relax!

What a quaint get away. We had a wonderful stay.

Charming cottage in beautiful bucolic setting, but more isolated than I anticipated. Thought Youghal would be within walking distance, but due to coastline it was a 13-minute drive. Also, while there were walking routes outlined in owners' material, it felt unsafe to walk on the narrow roads. Chalk that up to rural Ireland I guess, but we as tourists felt we couldn't take advantage of the surrounding beauty on foot.Rules felt restrictive: bring slippers & do not walk on the floors without them, do not cook anything greasy, keep pans covered when you cook, and only eat the table - protect the wood! Brighty the caretaker was cheerful and helpful.Highlight of the stay was when the farmer up the road moved his herd of magnificent cattle down to the field directly across the road. Only stayed a couple of days as part of a broader tour through Ireland.
