We feel ripped off the worst experience we’ve ever had.

There was no breakfast everything was locked up. No one was around. There was no breakfast. The main building was very cold. The bedroom had an electric heater which was set at 15° C. Could not use the shower as the room was too cold.

No customer care we felt deserted. We went to see a relative 100 yards away which gave us breakfast as we were very cold and hadn’t slept. We pay £10 extra to have a room with a view for the first thing we had to do was shut the vertical blinds to see if we could get some heat to stay in the room. Paid £100 for this experience.

a very enjoyable weekend

location was fantastic, breakfast was adequate for what we required and a bonus of having parking outside the premises. The place was clean and beds comfy. tea and coffee making facilities in the bedroom...always a bonus and the hosts were lovely when we saw them at breakfast times. wouldn't hesitate in returning

a little more milk sachets in the room wouldn't have gone a miss so as not to disturb the hosts in asking for more but apart from that everything was great

Comfy room, loved the walk in shower as many in the UK I have stayed in have been over bath. Great location and easy car parking. Continental breakfast included was a nice start to the day.

The sun room/ lounge room was a bit jaded and dusty but we enjoyed using it to relax after big walking days

Would definitely recommend, you can not go wrong at the price.

We had a few reservations about the hotel after reading some of the previous feedback, but we needn't have worried. We arrived at 5pm and the entrance was open, a key was in our room door for us as advised. There is staff around at the appropriate times of the day, and all the information we would need was on the reception desk, including contact numbers if needed. We hadn't realised that breakfast was included, we'd thought it was just a room, so that was nice, the breakfast was more than adequate. We believe a young couple own it, and probably hold down jobs as well to get them through the winter months when the hotel is empty...so please give this couple a break from all the unnecessary reviews, bleating about not getting full English breakfast etc ..get a grip

The guest house was for someone like me walking the SWCP.

I thought everything was pretty good during my stay. My hosts were welcoming and friendly and the breakfast was perfect for my needs.

I only had one small criticism and that was some loud knocking noises that happened periodically well into the night while I was reading and trying to get off to sleep. The source of the noise wasn't obvious but travelled through the fabric of the building.

The area

The wallpaper was hanging the ceiling, the towel rail was hanging of, the mattress was very uncomfortable, the bed was the wrong way round so the head board wasn't attached properly so every little movement made it bang on the wall, couldn't watch TV in bed at night, 2 towels for 2 people for 3 days, the coffee milk and sugar wasn't restocked so had to go to a shop and buy some, 1 small jug of water for the kettle, no were to fill it. The two lights down our corridor didn't even have light bulbs in so corridor was dark. The milk at breakfast had bits in it, we will definitely not be staying there again.

The owners weren’t there when we checked in but were contactable by phone. Breakfast was continental only and no flexibility on timing. Beds and pillows were tired. The walls between rooms were thin.

Tina and Peter are lovely, So welcoming. Parking a bonus. Comfortable, nice outside space to sit and Conservatory . They provide plates and cutlery for takeaways etc to eat in the downstairs area.

Would have had a 10 put of 10 breakfast was ok, good choice of cereal. Some fruit/ fruit juice is needed for a more balanced breakfast Bread for toast and croissants not wonderful but dont let that put you off

It had a very peaceful and restful ambiance. It was clean, comfortable and pleasant. The staff weren’t overbearing so it felt safe and private. I slept so peacefully that I slept right through breakfast and check out! Sorry about that.

I had a lovely restful stay at the Mandalay, and recommend it wholeheartedly.

The hosts were very friendly and helpful and went out of their way to make sure I had a super stay at their guest house. They provided a filling continental breakfast and gave me plenty of useful local information. The bathroom was excellent, with a spacious modern shower. I will certainly return if I have the chance.

Although the room was nice and clean, it was naturally a little small. Noise from the landing could be heard easily, but the hosts were thoughtful in making sure other guests did not disturb sleepers.
