L'ancora di Monterosso - Cinque Terre

Great location near the train station, beach, and main road between old and new parts of town.

First, absolutely no in-person contact with anyone during entire stay, even for check in. All handled by message or email. Found 2 handwritten receipts on kitchen table when we got into the apartment indicating total paid for the stay and another for the city tax. I had expected them to collect city tax upon check in as per all prior written information, but the receipts implied even the city tax was paid (likely charged to my credit card, similar to the booking cost). I thought maybe someone would show up sometime to greet us, but no one made any contact with us during our stay. I messaged them the day before checkout to verify if the city tax had been charged to my credit card per the receipt, but never got an answer until after we checked out. I didn’t want to leave cash on the table and double pay so I sent them a final message that I presumed the city tax has been charged to my credit card and we are checking out. Later that day after we left town, I get a message that “no” the city tax was not charged to my credit card and I still needed to pay by bank wire or PayPal. I did by PayPal, but what confusion given how this apartment management operates. The stay was completely impersonal with no helpful local host interaction. Second, the primary positive of this apartment is location. Value is questionable for the overall quality, furnishing and amenities of the property. The feeling of staying here is we rented a place, they want your money, but won’t spend any time or make any effort to welcome you here.

Location lived up to its billing. Lots of space, a kitchen. Air conditioning functioned well, only after getting online, then on a chair to directly power up the bedroom 'Innova' unit. Host communicated well and helped us get through a USA SIM fiasco. Old Monterroso had better food. The unit is almost directly above a small convenience store. Left in a rental car, and pulling up to the door was nice (very easy carry, whether from train or a double-parked car),

If batteries for an A/C remote are all I can think of, it was pretty awesome.

Top deck patio with an incredible view of the town and ocean .

One of the AC units wasn’t working in one bedroom , the owner got someone over to fix it as soon as possible .

The location of the property is great. Unfortunately that’s the only positive comment we have to make.

Check in was not seamless and communication was poor. The air conditioning units in living area and one of the bedrooms blew hot air and provided no cooling relief from the warm temperatures. When we reached out about assistance we were told there was nothing that could be done for the 4 nights we stayed. No fans were provided as an option. The apartment was not very clean as surfaces in bedrooms were covered in dust. There is also no ironing board provided.
