谷町君Hotel 松竹雲 京都四条烏丸

Lovely location away from the hustle and bustle of Kyoto Station and Gion. Kyoto is overrun with tourist in and around all the "must see" spots. It's nice to be in an area that is only a few blocks from 2 major subway lines and across the street from major bus lines without being in the heart of all the tourist-invaded areas of Kyoto. It's about 10 minutes away from Kyoto station by cab. It's only two subway station stops away from Kyoto Station and the walk to Shijo Station takes only 5 or 6 minutes. The actual subway ride couldn't have taken more than 5 minutes. Staff is friendly and helpful. We were on the top floor (5th) and it was very quiet. Major hotels are also nearby so if you're meeting up with friends or family who are staying at the bigger chain hotels it'll be easy to rendezvous with them. Also, you get a lot of space and if you have a third person who doesn't mind sleeping on the couch, the hotel allows for 3-person stays at no extra charge.

Staff is available from 9 am to 10 pm. This works well for most things, but if you need to say call a cab early in the morning, you're on your own. You can contact the desk by phone, if you have a phone and phone plan that can dial direct to a Japanese number. There is no landline intra-hotel phone in the room. However, you can email the staff directly if you have some kind of problem with your accommodations (of course going to the lobby and talking directly to them works well!).

The Room was super clean, location is nice and with good connectivity to anywhere in kyoto. We stayed only for one night just to get a japanese traditional experience.

The sensor lights are hyper sensitive which can eaily turn on even if you change sleeping position from the bed. Would be nice if windows could open for ventilation.

The room was so gorgeously decorated and felt so clean and traditional. Bathroom facilities were great too

- Place is very close to the heart of Kyoto. You can walk to Kiyomizudera in about 30mins along and lots of other sightseeing places as well as being close to several train stations. - There are also a few convenience stores and a lot of restaurants downstairs. -Amenities and pajamas provided (pajamas are one long button up). - Can watch youtube videos on the TV and the Tv is nice and big. - The room is very very new and fairly clean, with electronic toilet and nice new bathroom. - The furnishing is very nice and very Japanese styled.

- We stayed for 3 night and the place offers a 'cleaning service' but that consists of just replacing amenities and towels and nothing else (they didn't even take the old towels for washing). Was hoping that the place was vacuumed and sheets folded and surfaces given a wipe. -We found a mukade (Japanese centipede) in the room when we returned. This isn't unusual but we had no way to get rid of it. Would benefit with a bottle of bug spray in the room. - There is nowhere to hang wet towels. Would be good if there was a hook on the back of the bathroom door. - Other reviews mentioned that you can watch Netflix but this is ONLY if you log in and use your own account. - the website mentions that the rooms are sound proof but I could hear the person entering and leaving the room opposite us. - Contradictary to what some of the other English reviews say overall this is a Japanese styled room but if you're looking for a TRADITIONAL Japanese experience this isn't it. You'd be better off paying a good amount for a nice historical ryokan that is owned by Japanese people.
