Lovely well appointed large house

Lovely large house in the centre of Rothbury, which was ideal for our family get-together comprising teenagers, parents and grandparents. Everyone had their space. The bedrooms and bathrooms in particular were very comfortable and well appointed. The kitchen had everything we needed (apart from salt 🤷‍♀️). A lovely characterful house which Id definitely recommend.

Wow, what a venue! We came here with friends and their kids for Christmas, moving from a traditional hotel stay to everyone staying in one place, and it was exactly what we had hoped for! It’s quirky, spacious, warm, and cozy. The person looking after the house (who isn’t local) was fantastic at resolving our access issue and even helped with something we accidentally left behind—so huge thanks to her for that! The house seemed to have everything we needed. There was plenty of space (though parking was a little tight, we managed fine). There’s a small outdoor area, which wasn’t a problem in winter since we spent our time visiting Alnwick Gardens, with Cragside practically on the doorstep! The location is absolutely amazing—walking distance to every shop! The host was in touch, very personable, and couldn’t do enough to help, even though they live far away. All in all, it was a great price and an incredible experience!

The beds in one of the rooms weren’t the comfiest—but that’s personal preference, and no one else complained. The heating was a little temperamental; sometimes it got too hot, but that could have been us just getting used to the thermostat!

Fab stay for group of friends with lots of places in easy reach

Location (Main Street of beautiful town) and helpfulness of Karen (caretaker who went above and beyond to answer my questions in a v timely fashion)

Nothing to dislike but decor much more tired than the photos suggest. However clean, comfortable and everything worked!

Fab place for family gathering

House was the perfect location and size for a family gathering.

The accommodation was an older, grand victorian villa over 3 floors. The decor was a bit tired though clean and bathrooms great. Only main thing that stuck out was the upholstery in sitting room furniture which was very old and uncomfortable. There was an upstairs lounge with a bed settee but main room was a bit worn and could feel springs on most seats

brilliant place

We went here as a group of 10 girls for a birthday weekend and there was more than enough room for everyone. Facilities were great, clean and tidy. Great pubs and restaurants near in a lovely little village

the only downfall I would have said was the courtyard outside could have been a bit better but it didn’t bother us because we sat in the pub beer garden all day

Unexpected quality accomodation in a charming location.

Just a short note of thanks for the use of Orchard House. Our group of six had a short golfing break, mostly to play Goswick, but also some holiday golf on the coast. While Rothbury is not the most ideal location for that, Orchard House impressed us all with the arrangement of rooms, the standard of the ensuite bedrooms and the quality & style of decor, and Rothbury itself is a charming and engaging location for the period we spent. The golfing was great, but the accommodation turned it into a special and memorable trip. It has set a new high bar for the future

Great location & piece of local history

Location right in centre of the town with good parking right outside. Huge house (x-guesthouse) with bags of room and ensuite bathrooms.

Grade 2 listed house with great history but could do with some modernising where possible (electrics etc). Backyard could have been more appealing. Removal of unneeded items from cupboards in kitchen and a general tidy up would help.

Lovely experience in general and definitely served its purpose for our party

The house was lovely and everything in the kitchen was to hand, access was easy following a text from the housekeeper Karen. no major issues and was an excellent experience in general

the on street parking may be an issue however we did get parked as did all the other guests, but it was very busy. More black bin bags and maybe try and sort something with refuse collection as the bins were overflowing, and the back door was off its hinges at the bottom which made it very difficult to access the courtyard. I know the property furnishings are in keeping with the house however the lounge seating is quite uncomfortable and could do with a revamp

Generous accommodation in a quaint town

The property was a typically rustic and Georgian accommodation with generously proportioned rooms. Every bedroom had an attached bathroom which was a big plus. Nice small patch of garden to play. Property is slightly dated but has period features. Location is very central on the high street of the town, so convienient for shops.

Since we had stayed on the day after the lockdown was officially released in England the house had some issues with ventilation — the stuffy feel of a house shut for 3 months seemed to linger. However, this got better as we stayed. The housekeepers were great with responding to our concerns and gave us a late checkout on our last day to compensate.
