Old Quinta near the river Douro and train station. Nice breakfast and possible to have dinner (reservation) Breakfast served outside if you asked :)
Beds were a bit hard. Google translate needed for foreign staff.

Lovely room overlooking the river, relaxing terrace and pool area. The staff were helpful and friendly. The evening meal was exceptional

Had an amazing stay at Quinta da Ermida. It's a historical building in a great location with a view of the Douro Valley. The swimming pool was lovely on a hot summer's day. Everything about our stay was perfect.
Tip for those who arrive by train: you are allowed to walk along the railroad, which saves you a long hike up the hill.
Dinner was €30 per person, which is a bit expensive for Portuguese standards.
