Wajimaya Ryokan

Stunning !! The shared bathroom area was beautifully designed and so clean and modern. The rooms were also beautiful and traditional with stunning matting and sliding doors. Everything was well explained about the rules of the ryokan, which i love because it keeps the environment nice for all of the guests. Slippers, towels, pyjamas and toiletries were provided, there was a communal fridge, a tea set and everything you could need for a short stay. The price was unbelievable for 3 nights and a short 10 minute walk from the main kyoto station.

The curfew was a little bit inconvenient

I wouldn't say it was so fabulous as everyone describes it but it was a nice and cosy stay in a very traditional room. Manager is always there to help you. Amazing central location near the station. Everything is super clean and shared toilet is another level of cleanliness. Roo, is basic but very interesting to experience it.

A lot of strict rules that are hard for Western travellers, e.g. too much attention from the owner, separate slippers for every room, room guidelines, etc.

No sound proofing and unfriendly attendant
