The house, the room, the village, the breakfast, hospitality of Carlos and his lovely wife. The room was very big, yet warm. I the village is so quiet, I had a walk before the sunset, there was an incredible light and the church looks stunning in the dark blue light. I had some drinks in the only cafe of the village. The local people I met there were so nice and welcoming and the port wine was very good.

Carlos was a super host who allowed un in to the his family home for a couple of nights. The home goes back several generations in his family and you can sense the history of their time in this beautiful old house. The common areas we frequented were clean and tidy, the breakfast was more than adequate with home made jams and cakes with the standard meat and cheese and fruit. Carlos was very kind to arrange our day of touring around the region taking in a couple of winery's and booking appointments ahead for us and with the drive taking in a nice lunch spot and some beautiful scenic drives. We really couldn't have asked for more.
This isn't necessarily a criticism but due to me being tall, I found the bed in the room that we stayed in a little too short.
