A beautiful hotel with history, grand interiors and lovely sea views.
Grand Hotel Heiligendamm impresses with its stunning architecture, beautiful rooms, friendly staff and truly unique location and surroundings. It is always a pleasure to return to this special place.
Unfortunately, the spa experience was disappointing during our latest visit. Neither the indoor nor the outdoor pool was heated, thus the water was cold leading us to decide not to swim. While the sauna area is adults-only, there is no dedicated adults-only swimming pool or whirlpool. The pools were being used by many children, some still wearing swim diapers, which detracted from the overall sense of relaxation.
The only designated quiet room is located in the basement, without natural daylight or views. The upstairs area, on the other hand, is too noisy to unwind peacefully. Also it was understaffed and several dirty towels etc. were occupying the loungers.
For a hotel of this calibre, I would expect a more thoughtfully designed spa experience, with heated pools and a dedicated adults-only swimming and relaxation area apart from the downstairs area.
