Great hotel on great location!
Nice luxery hotel on the Slovenia Coast. We received a free update to a two bedroom suite. Two balconies overlooking the sea and breakfast included. Also three swimmingpools, gym and wellness. Unfortunately two days and one night was to short! They are also really pet friendly!
The garage is free but u fortunately there is no direct elevator to the hotel.

The staff was so helpful and friendly.
Comfy bed, clean. A bit noisy from different room/corridor.

Great hotel near the beach with delicious food options for breakfast and dinner.
Air conditioning could be cooler.

Good but not 5 star
Very clean, great location, stylish hotel with a nice sea water indoor pool and spa access. The view was great! Fantastic big balcony. Comfortable bed. Beautiful restaurant and terraces.
Breakfast is not a 5 star. There is an illusion of variety but in fact it’s not much to choose from. Tomatoes were cheap and hard to chew, no cakes, chemical cheap orange juice, poor variety of cheese, bread. Some staff doesn’t know how to smile. The shower didn’t have any door or curtain so after taking it we had to wipe all the water from the floor.

A Beautiful Setting Undermined by Substandard Service
Hotel Metropol in Portorož presents itself as a 5-star destination, and on first impressions, it certainly looks the part. The building appears to have undergone recent renovations, giving it a modern and upscale aesthetic. Rooms are spacious—likely a legacy of the hotel's older structure—and the complimentary upgrade to a suite during our stay was much appreciated. The panoramic views are among the finest in Portorož, offering a striking blend of the Adriatic, the surrounding hills, and the iconic Kempinski Palace, even if slightly marred by the rooftops of the casino complex. The hotel also boasts a generously sized, well-heated indoor pool and a comfortable terrace area. Breakfast was varied and generally very good (bread pudding and baked beans are much better at the Kempinski, though), living up to expectations for a hotel of this class.
Beyond the surface, the experience was marred by a series of service shortcomings that made it difficult to consider this a true 5-star establishment. To begin with, basic service standards were repeatedly missed. There were no spa slippers in the room—something we’ve come to expect as a given in any hotel offering wellness amenities. After requesting them, it took the entire afternoon for them to arrive, effectively costing us one of the two days we had to enjoy the spa facilities. The bathtub in our suite was unusable due to a missing plug, which was never fixed. The bed was not properly made, which is a basic expectation in a hotel of this category. The most concerning issue, however, was the handling of a parking dispute which I raised formally with the hotel and for which I have yet to receive any acknowledgment or response, despite following up twice. Upon arrival, I confirmed with the front desk that parking was included in our reservation and that no further steps were needed. However, at checkout, I was informed that I had failed to obtain a specific ticket upon arrival and was required to pay full parking fees out of pocket. The staff showed no willingness to take responsibility or offer any assistance—despite the confusion being entirely due to incorrect information provided by the hotel itself. It was not only an inconvenience but also a disappointing display of indifference toward guests. All this raises serious concerns about management and the service culture more broadly. While the Metropol benefits from its location, views, and certain facilities, the service falls well short of standards. For travelers seeking true 5-star service in Portorož, options like the Kempinski Palace offer a significantly more polished and guest-focused experience, and mid-range alternatives such as Hotel Marko offer better overall value. Until meaningful improvements in service are made it's difficult to recommend the Metropol without reservation.

Not worth the money!
The single thing I can give a positive review about was breakfast, altho nothing special it was adequate in variety.
Lets just say that the hotel is completely outdated and not worth 5* mark, let-alone a hefty price tag, ridiculous. Bathroom was recently renovated but everything else was just substandard. Bed are HARD and not to spacious. Balcony as nicely sized but nowhere to hang your towels to dry. Windows were cleaned last year. There is not enough staff so you wait 1 hour to check/in and than 1 hour to check/out! Of course you have to stand in the lobby for the whole procedure. Most of the staff is not knowledgable enough so take their instructions with a grain of doubt. Parking in the garage cost too much since you have to walk quite a lot to get to your car and parking spaces are very small, too small. The pool is not as glamorous as on the pictures provided here. Algea is growing in the pool and they did not bother to clean it as we were told by the employee. There is not enough (uncomfortable)loungers by the pool for all the guests so who comes first wins! And not to mention that quarter of all pool umbrellas were broken, so bring your high factor suncream with you! Trust me, for a little bit more money you can enjoy a newly refurbished hotel nearby and get what you payed. This is a complete ripoff and I will never use their services again.
