Nice luxery hotel on the Slovenia Coast. We received a free update to a two bedroom suite. Two balconies overlooking the sea and breakfast included. Also three swimmingpools, gym and wellness. Unfortunately two days and one night was to short! They are also really pet friendly!
The garage is free but u fortunately there is no direct elevator to the hotel.

The staff was so helpful and friendly.
Comfy bed, clean. A bit noisy from different room/corridor.

Great hotel near the beach with delicious food options for breakfast and dinner.
Air conditioning could be cooler.

Very clean, great location, stylish hotel with a nice sea water indoor pool and spa access. The view was great! Fantastic big balcony. Comfortable bed. Beautiful restaurant and terraces.
Breakfast is not a 5 star. There is an illusion of variety but in fact it’s not much to choose from. Tomatoes were cheap and hard to chew, no cakes, chemical cheap orange juice, poor variety of cheese, bread.
Some staff doesn’t know how to smile.
The shower didn’t have any door or curtain so after taking it we had to wipe all the water from the floor.

Hotel Metropol in Portorož presents itself as a 5-star destination, and on first impressions, it certainly looks the part. The building appears to have undergone recent renovations, giving it a modern and upscale aesthetic. Rooms are spacious—likely a legacy of the hotel's older structure—and the complimentary upgrade to a suite during our stay was much appreciated. The panoramic views are among the finest in Portorož, offering a striking blend of the Adriatic, the surrounding hills, and the iconic Kempinski Palace, even if slightly marred by the rooftops of the casino complex.
The hotel also boasts a generously sized, well-heated indoor pool and a comfortable terrace area. Breakfast was varied and generally very good (bread pudding and baked beans are much better at the Kempinski, though), living up to expectations for a hotel of this class.
Beyond the surface, the experience was marred by a series of service shortcomings that made it difficult to consider this a true 5-star establishment.
To begin with, basic service standards were repeatedly missed. There were no spa slippers in the room—something we’ve come to expect as a given in any hotel offering wellness amenities. After requesting them, it took the entire afternoon for them to arrive, effectively costing us one of the two days we had to enjoy the spa facilities. The bathtub in our suite was unusable due to a missing plug, which was never fixed. The bed was not properly made, which is a basic expectation in a hotel of this category.
The most concerning issue, however, was the handling of a parking dispute which I raised formally with the hotel and for which I have yet to receive any acknowledgment or response, despite following up twice. Upon arrival, I confirmed with the front desk that parking was included in our reservation and that no further steps were needed. However, at checkout, I was informed that I had failed to obtain a specific ticket upon arrival and was required to pay full parking fees out of pocket. The staff showed no willingness to take responsibility or offer any assistance—despite the confusion being entirely due to incorrect information provided by the hotel itself. It was not only an inconvenience but also a disappointing display of indifference toward guests.
All this raises serious concerns about management and the service culture more broadly.
While the Metropol benefits from its location, views, and certain facilities, the service falls well short of standards. For travelers seeking true 5-star service in Portorož, options like the Kempinski Palace offer a significantly more polished and guest-focused experience, and mid-range alternatives such as Hotel Marko offer better overall value. Until meaningful improvements in service are made it's difficult to recommend the Metropol without reservation.

Everything. Beautiful hotel in the right location. Breakfast is faboulous.
Nothing
1.0 / 10.0
The single thing I can give a positive review about was breakfast, altho nothing special it was adequate in variety.
Lets just say that the hotel is completely outdated and not worth 5* mark, let-alone a hefty price tag, ridiculous. Bathroom was recently renovated but everything else was just substandard. Bed are HARD and not to spacious. Balcony as nicely sized but nowhere to hang your towels to dry. Windows were cleaned last year. There is not enough staff so you wait 1 hour to check/in and than 1 hour to check/out! Of course you have to stand in the lobby for the whole procedure. Most of the staff is not knowledgable enough so take their instructions with a grain of doubt. Parking in the garage cost too much since you have to walk quite a lot to get to your car and parking spaces are very small, too small.
The pool is not as glamorous as on the pictures provided here. Algea is growing in the pool and they did not bother to clean it as we were told by the employee. There is not enough (uncomfortable)loungers by the pool for all the guests so who comes first wins! And not to mention that quarter of all pool umbrellas were broken, so bring your high factor suncream with you!
Trust me, for a little bit more money you can enjoy a newly refurbished hotel nearby and get what you payed. This is a complete ripoff and I will never use their services again.

The hotel is in a wonderful location, it has all the amenities you'd expect in a 5* hotel, the food is rather good, the spa nice, the staff is amazing - kind, friendly, really looking to help and upgrade your experience. The rooms are lovely and comfy, and our sea view was absolutely gorgeous. The location is as good as any in Portoroz, it's a tiny place, but it's convenient that you have several stores right in front of the hotel.
Certain areas of the hotel could do with an upgrade or an update. The indoor pool is dated, jacuzzi tubs aren't working, the floors between the indoor pool and spa are incredibly slippery - a real danger. Parking can't be reserved in advance, and although we were lucky, and there were free spots in the hotel parking, this could have been an inconvenience.

Breakfast we loved the wide and quality selection of food available to us.
Wellness was fantastic!
8 o' clock opening for wellness would be better.

Great location. Nice attention to detail and very attentive staff. Very good value for what we paid.
Parking at 20 Euros a day which is not mentioned. Faded grandeur, probably was 5 star 20 years ago. Checking took so long but staff worked hard just not enough of them.

Check in queues were too long. Staff worked incredibly hard but just not enough of them.

The location is superb, the staff is very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was improved since last year, bonus points for sparkling wine. Breakfast staff was top noch, especially an elderly Sir ''J'' who made every morning even more pleasant. The pool is perfect. I was very pleasantly surprised by the fact that the pool facilities (sunbed/umbrella) weren't additionally charged this year. The room was very nice overall, very bright and nicely decorated. I would also like to thank for accepting my wish for being on the top floor. Great staff!
My room was at the top floor which was GREAT, but I didn't feel safe since anyone from the top floor could access my balcony/room. So sleeping with my balcony door open at night was sadly a no-go since I was alone in the room as a young woman. People even walked past my balcony and it felt like I have no privacy. As I first entered the room, it wasn't well cleaned. I understand the cleaning ladies have it really stressfull in the high season, so I didn't want to make a fuss out of it. But my bathroom floor had a lot of hair from previous guests all over + there was a dirty napkin under my bed which is unaccetpable. Other than that my room was cleaned daily throughout my stay and the cleaning lady was really nice.

Breakfast was good and varied. The location of the hotel is well placed near their own private beach as well as walking distance from everything else in Portoroz.
There was no information that parking would need to be paid, even if it was at a discount, a little disclaimer on the facilities tab would have been nice.

Room was very nice and the location.
Breakfast was good and the view from the dining terrace is amazing.
Room was very big, we had a nice view and the bed is comfy.
We booked a special offer with free parking, wellness and free mini bar.
We didn't get the free parking because they run out of the free cards for the garage (why are you selling something that you can't provide).
We needed to pay 40 Euro for 2 days parking.
At the indoor pool the whirlpools didn't work, on the 2 small outside pools there were some renovation jobs so they were also closed.
We hoped for much more because of the recommendation from our friends for this hotel.
Such a shame.

Location is very good. Our room was comfortable. Bathroom was clean. Free minibar was a nice touch.
Breakfast was really nice as always and the view from the dining terrace.
We booked a special offer that includes a free minibar, wellness and a free parking.
On the check in i asked about the parking and i got the answer that they run out of the free cards and that i can take the garage for 20 Euros per day. The receptionist said there is text written with small letters that the parking is free only as long as they have this free cards. I checked later my email booking confirmation and there is no text in it that is confirming this statement. So i paid for something and i didn't get it. If you know that you have only a limited amount of free cards then you need to organize better and not sell the packages that you can not fulfill.
Second thing is the indoor pool area. They are promoting a new wellness area but forgot to tell that the 2 whirlpools are not working.
The 2 small pools outside(part of the indoor pool area) were also closed because of renovation ( the last year they were also closed because of the same reason).
I come to this hotel and their 2 annex hotels since 2014. and I know how good this hotel was and i am disappointed and sad to see that so many things have changed in negative direction and that so many things are not functioning properly anymore.

Hotel has extremely spacious rooms. Staff was very communicative and helpful in every situation. Location is just as you can wish to access any part of Portorož in couple of minutes by foot. And the view from the room and restaurant terrase is astonishing. Pool is large, not overcrowded and with sea water, very good in period when sea is not ideal for swimming.
The food was very good - anyone does not each better than this at home. But more variety of choices is expected for 5* hotel.
