We choose The dog house for location , met a friend for weekend to visit Oxford , The

Room was clean , Most of staff were very friendly and helpful , Evening meals in restaurant were good and location was good

Room was tired and dark , needs updating , Room we had was noisy as no double glazing and road noise was late into night and again in morning with people (staff) arriving banging front door , They ran out of fresh pastries on first morning for a breakfast

Unfortunately, I will not be staying again due to drafty, noisy and no hot water.

Staff were lovely and very helpful as I arrived very late on a Sunday evening. Breakfast was nice however the hot water wasn't very hot for Tea. Lots of choice on the continental breakfast although I believe I was the only guest. Plus the option for cooked breakfast, which was also lovely.

Unfortunately the windows in the rooms are extremely old and thin. There was a draft but also I was woken up to the sound of many cars driving very fast outside through puddles from 4.30am. On top of this I went to have a shower and unfortunately there was no hot water. With the hotel being closed after 10pm on a Sunday there was no staff on site but when I noticed the non existent hot water it was too late and I needed to leave for a work meeting. This should be an essential for all hotels.

Parking outside the hotel is large and no problem to park. Check in was easy. The bed was comfortable enough. Space to hang clothing. TV is big enough with lots of channels to choose from if you want to watch it Breakfast was good with a chouce of full English, Continental and smaller bites. Served between 7 and 9am weekdays and Saturdays and from 8 til 10am on Sundays. There was a cheerful eastern European lady who served us breakfast 1 day and took the time to ask if we'd enjoyed breakfast.

Our room was on the 1st floor and overlooked a corridor on the other side with no view whatsoever. The room was very tired and stuck in the 80s. A complete refurb is needed. We spent 6 nights in the hotel and the bed was only made once during our stay - the bathroom bin only emptied once. These are small details which didn't bother us overall but need to be pointed out. We felt there was a high turnover of visitors and not enough time for cleaning staff to go through all the rooms. We had booked 6 breakfasts but didn't get to eat on the last day as we were leaving early. It would have been nice if the guy at the checkout had asked if we wanted a take out breakfast - it is possible esp when it comes to continental breakfasts ie croissants. Alternatively, deducting 2 breakfasts as a commercial gesture wouldn't have gone a miss. Would we return? No and we are not picky.

Lovely place with great staff.

Lovely spot close to Wantage (Our son lives in Wantage) very warm and cozy room. Very comfortable bed. Lovely welcoming staff. We stayed in the rear of the property and it was very quiet and peaceful even on a busy Saturday night in the pub. Breakfast was fabulous, a massive choice to suit everyone. Perfect for us while visiting family. Will definitely be staying again.

The breakfast was very good, the selection gave us a wide choice. The cooked breakfast was a lovely start to the day, the bacon and sausages were of high quality. The staff at breakfast and the evening meals were always professional and friendly. We very much liked the dining rooms all of which had a different decor and furnishings and photos of Abingdon, much better than large rooms which could seem empty or noisy. Very thoughtful.

Only things that were above and beyond their control eg a pool of water to step into on the forecourt due to a downpour.

Great stay with friends, good customer service, rooms could do with a bit of an update.

The staff were great, especially Steve who provided excellent Customer service in a friendly and professional manner. The food choices were good, with a reasonable choice of vegan and veggie options.

Although the rooms were very clean, offered tea and coffee making facilities and the beds were very comfortable, we felt that the decor and furniture were dated and looking very tired. A fresher more modern look in the rooms would definitely have enhanced our stay further.

I dont like that customers have the option to add a gratuity when paying by card. It doesn't go directly to the staff it gets paid via the company. The old tradition of tipping should stay as it has been Infinitum!! Tip them the old way.

Dog house is a superb place

All the staff are wonderful, welcoming and polite and provided amazing service. Their food is excellent and very enjoyable and the portions are great worth every penny. Our entire stay was superb. I would happily stay there again in future.
