The drainage is not very good specially in the shower. We had to wait at intervals to take a shower to give the water to drain off

For a base to explore the Newquay area we would thoroughly recommend Stable Cottage.

The cottage was very clean and well appointed. The provision of film dvd’s and welcome pack of tea/coffee and kitchen essentials was a nice touch. Maybe more could have been made of this as we weren’t aware and therefore unnecessarily brought our own.

Enjoyed stay but cottage not up to expectations based on previous Sykes cottage stays and cost high

Not applicable - it was self-catering

Major issues 1. The central heating could not be switched on in the bedrooms despite trying to follow the instructions and we couldn't override the auto settings in the living room. The settings seemed a bit random so some evenings we wanted to turn it down, others it was cold. 2.The shower was good most of the time but sometimes it was only lukewarm. This may relate to how long the immersion heater was on for. It meant that we couldn't rely on a hot soon after getting back from a walk. 3.The beds in the twin room were hard and uncomfortable - you could feel the springs. Better mattresses needed. 4. No hair dryer which is unusual in similar properties in our experience. 5. The bedrooms felt damp. We couldn't open the windows to let the rooms air because they were locked. Past comments have complained about lack of wifi but that has been resolved and the wifi was very good. Someone said TV was small but it was fine. Cottage was clean contrary to a past report Minor improvements would help. The kitchen is good but could be improved by adding a dish drying rack, soup spoons, small glasses for spirits, and a few other small improvements. There was no soap or handwash. There was a welcome pack with dishwasher tablets but there is no dishwasher. There was a minute amount of washing up liquid There is no place outside to hang up clothes - a small drying line would help. Given that there is no washing machine/dryer. Most cottages we have rented from Sykes have information about cottage and local services such as bus routes, local shops, taxis. Stable Cottage just had brochures from e.g. local restaurants. There is a NISA shop close by but there is not mention of that. The lounge is nice and the cottage is well-decorated if dated, but fine. The lounge furniture is good and the kitchen well-fitted. Nice location. We have stayed in about 20 rented cottages over the year and this one rates lowest.

Lovely little cottage, nice and quite

Loved the cottage. Very well presented, very clean and the beds were very comfortable. Lovely to see lovely clean bedding and fresh white towels, well done to the housekeepers Thank you 🙏

The central heating was a nightmare! We couldn’t get it to work, consequently we were cold even evening We came home early as I couldn’t cope with the cold

Tired and Smelley

The location is excellent

Upon walking in there was a smell of dampness that persisted all week. Tired decor like sofa which really needs replacing. I knew there was no WiFi which wouldn’t have been a problem if we could get a phone in the property . which we couldn’t and that meant anyone trying to contact us while we were there couldn’t. Also the feeling of dampness in the bedrooms wasn’t good either .
