We had a great stay at casa Diva. The room was spotless, well appointed and comfortable. Excellent location within walking distance to all attractions and very close to a public parking garage. Very generous and delicious breakfast. All staff members were friendly and helpful.

This was my first trip to Matera, and I’ll admit I was a bit nervous about where to stay since I didn’t fully understand the layout of the city. Thankfully, I chose the perfect place. I knew I wanted to experience staying in a cave, and Casa Diva delivered that beautifully.
Since we were driving in, I was worried about parking and carrying luggage to the room, but there was reasonably priced parking very close to the property, which made everything easy. We stayed in the Uva Room, a stunning and spacious cave suite. After taking one of the local tours, I learned that this space probably would have housed 30 to 40 people centuries ago—but it was perfectly comfortable for the four of us.
The room is located below the main level of the hotel, which offers a scenic viewpoint that’s great for photos. The Uva Room itself opens onto a small private patio area, and features a large kitchen, a newly renovated bathroom with a fantastic shower, and even a private hot tub room—which was an amazing bonus.
While the suite has one main bathroom, there’s an additional half bath just outside in the hallway, which made mornings much easier. There was plenty of space for luggage and personal items, and a huge kitchen table that my brother and nephew used comfortably for remote work thanks to the excellent Wi-Fi.
An elevator provides easy access for heavier luggage, while a staircase offers a quicker route if preferred. The property even includes a small cinema room, which we walked through but didn’t use. The staff were extremely kind, welcoming, and helpful throughout our stay.
We visited in October and didn’t need air conditioning or heat—the natural cave temperature was perfect. For those visiting in summer, there appeared to be air-conditioning units in every room.
I can’t say enough good things about Casa Diva—it was a remarkable and memorable experience, and I’ll absolutely stay here again the next time I’m in Matera.
