The Valampuri

The location was good, right next to the Jaffna railway station. We stayed for 2 nights and chose to have dinner from the restaurant. The first day, service was amazing, the recommended dishes and the food was delivered quickly. The rooms were alright.

We were navigated to the adjoining hotel (I believe its a partner hotel) which took me by surprise and there was no pool facility attached to that hotel. So for the pool and the restaurant we had to go to the Valampuri main hotel. As we had a good first day at the restaurant, we went for the second, unfortunately, it was a Saturday with an outdoor function. The service was poor. we had to wait for more than an hour to get our dishes, which was after complaining to the Manager, then one dish was wrong. The food tasted good, but we could not enjoy it as were tired waiting for our meals. I hope they improve on this and avoid this negligence in the restaurant when there are additional events. There were insufficient towels in one rooms and the TV needed replacement once we informed it was not working. They had a lovely bed light, but unfortunately the turn off switch was not working! The hotel rooms were warm when we walked in, despite a call on the previous day to check out ETA, and we were late for like 30 mins only. Some hotel rooms had mainly just hot water showers!
