The Old Farmhouse

Right on the edge of the Forest of Dean and good value. Easy to drive to lots of good places. Good parking spaces. Old property with lots of beams added to the character. Thermostat kept the place warm despite the age of the property/windows. Sound of sheep and farm smells added to a nice country feel! Local pub and convenience store nearby, only 7 minutes drive to Lydney with big supermarkets- we had a good Indian takeaway from there. Bedrooms spacious for a travel cot.

Hard to communicate with hosts- no response to question on initial enquiry and can’t talk to them using the normal message function on booking.com. There was a number to call but never made it through to them. Eventually just left a message and then they text me before arrival. Not a criticism as it is an old property but just worth noting that very thin walls/ceiling. Thankfully had white noise machine for the infant joining us so wasn’t really an issue for us. Some cushions/blankets for the seating area would make it more comfortable. No tea/coffee/salt/pepper/oil available but thankfully saw that on a review on another app so we were prepared.

Very clean and spacious, hosts very responsive to an issue when we arrived. Good location.

I have never been to an Airbnb that did not supply tea bags and coffee sachets which caught us out. Also no wifi but that is made clear in the booking.

Easy to find/get to, but feels nice and rural, with some great local walks. Great that they welcome dogs. Fantastic pub within easy walking distance (The Cock Inn). Hosts friendly and helpful, but keep out of your way.

No Wi-Fi, but nice to escape the tech over the Christmas holiday.

Lovely, clean, comfortable, character home. Well equipped and warm. Beautiful area.

We were unable to make contact with the hosts prior to stay, despite having a phone number. As we were staying over Christmas we needed some questions answered re facilities / equipment etc. However, despite the lack of contact, we found the house well equipped and it had everything we needed.
