Very satisfied with helpful staff

The staff were very friendly and let us check in a bit earlier, Joel sent us a nice e-booklet with clear information about the property. The bathroom and shower were clean. The lady let us use a big fan to reduce the 30°C heat from outside. The beds were comfortable. The staff let us use the kitchen to cook a simple dinner, we were very grateful. We could also leave our luggage after checkout to explore Mont Saint Michel in the morning.

The weather was extremely hot on our arrival, but the fan and shower helped :)

Steer Well Clear - We Got Caught

There is nothing positive we can say about this place. It was a big mistake to have booked here. How anyone has given it a positive review is beyond our comprehension because they did not see what we saw. We could only conclude that some of the reviews were contrived by friends of the owner or people not familiar with staying in good accommodation in France. In 25 years of travelling around most of France, we have never encountered anything as unsatisfactory as this place. I should add that we try to give positive feedback for wherever we stay, but in this case, there is absolutely nothing good we can say about Chambres les Salles.

The experience was shocking from start to finish. Access to the room was through a very unclean and untidy kitchen, and then through an equally messy food preparation area, from which we were pointed to a door at the top of a steep narrow stairs. There were two huge beds and one single bed in a small room. There were dirty soiled sheets in one bed, and unsafe electrical cabling dangling beside another. It was disgusting. One of the beds was very sunken, which we presumed was because someone of considerable weight had been using it over time. We were met on arrival by a a not particularly friendly but very rotund man. We later met a younger equally rotund woman (who tried to be friendly). A glimpse of the dining area revealed a drab, dated and unsatisfactory indoor eating area (one long single table). He asked if we wanted a breakfast at €8 per person. Having seen the state of the place, you must be joking! We initially left our luggage, departed, and later returned to remove our belongings. We did not have any further engagement with the owners or argue with them - there was no point. We simply decided to cut our losses (having prepaid). We got a room a nice hotel in a nearby town, where the accommodation was less expensive, excellent in terms of space and cleanliness, and breakfast was included. All we can say to anyone considering staying at Chambres les Salles is don't. We got caught.

very close to mont st michel. we were just passing through so we had to stay only for 1 night. not expensive.

shower did not drain properly and wasn’t too clean, doors were rusty. very good water pressure though. bed was clean, but room was kinda outdated. wifi wasn’t good either unfortunately.

Pleasant place to stay and sightsee

We arrived later in the evening but there was no issue with check-in and being shown to our room. The room had its own shower, table and kettle so we could make drinks and sit down for a meal if we wanted to. At an additional cost we could have a breakfast in the morning but we chose not to. The location was easy to find and it was nice a quiet yet simple enough to get us to Mount St. Michael and other places locally. The host was very helpful and friendly and easy to approach at any time.

Really enjoyed the chance to spend the night in a local house!! The room was very comfortable with a nice bathroom. Good breakfast with handmade jams 😊 There is also an available parking, in case you have the car.

Location good. Close to Abbaye Du Mont ST. Michael (If you are driving). Host was friendly and spoke English well.

No private entrance to the apartment. You have to go through owner's living room, and kitchen which is smelly and full of things, clothes, looks like bad storage room. Refrigerator (bad smelling) shared with the owner, kitchen dirty, messy, shared with the owner. Floor coverings (carpets) very old and smelly. Shower handle broken, bedroom contains 3 beds, covered with very old coverings, there is no table where you can eat breakfast comfortably.

Homey and friendly, great choice for Mont Saint-Michele

The owner, Joel, is a super sweet guy. He was waiting for us when we arrived, and happily showed us to our room. It's cute, cosy and comfortable. Lots of towels provided, everything you could need in the bathroom. The toilet paper was so thick and luxurious - so no cutting corners here (this isn't something that I write about often!). The room includes a fan (very handy in summer). The garden is beautiful and perfect for chilling out with lounge chairs. Joel allowed us to use the shared kitchen facilities and fridge and was always hospitable. Only a short drive to Mont Saint-Michel parking lot, but if you like long walks, it can be reached that way. It felt more like staying with a family friend than a "hotel" experience, and we loved every minute. Would happily come back next time.

Great value and location.

The best value to see Mont Saint Michel! We parked in the free parking and were met by the host who showed us our room. The room had everything we needed and more-closet, private bathroom, even coffee set up. We had originally asked to rent bikes, it took a bit for him to get them out for us, they weren't the best but they got us through the town (beside real lavender) and along the river to the Mont and back. We were able to have a late breakfast (yes the famous homemade jams and more items than any other place we stayed like cheese and yogurt in addition to breads) and checked out a little after check out time.

If you don't like feeling like you are close to someone's home or eating in their knickknack covered dining room, this might not be the place for you. But if you are open to that, it is an amazing price and location.

Great place to stay, great location

The room was cozy and the bed comfortable, the bathroom was big and with a massage shower. the location is perfect, I walked from there to the mount saint michel, it took me 1h, but the car park is expensive and only saves 25min. very affordable and with good conditions.

the windows didn’t had light blocking blinders, so the sun woke me up earlier than I wanted even using a eye thingy. I didn’t had breakfast, because it was extra 7€, can’t say how it is.

The town is beautiful and quaint and quiet. Joel attended to us really nicely. Warm welcome. Beautiful view from our 2 windows! Good bkfst for a few extra euros...delicious homeade jams...even 1 made from dill. 11 min rude from Mount st michel.

worth to stay in this place if you want to have the freedom to be without car to visit the mont and you are looking for

very good cost benefit. you will be 5km from the mont and can reach there with a nice walking. the owner is very kind, his breakfast is very good with fresh bread and jelly’s he does himself.
