Winter review

The complex looks amazing. It has a charm (especially in the morning with a fog). The food was excellent with many options to choose from. In the rooms there was a central heating working and the rooms were warm and cosy. In the complex, there is a special,separate room for kids to play. The elevator was available.

Rooms in the main hotel were a bit old. Walls were cracked,but it gave a real home vibe

I am struggling to find anything we liked.

Location Food No easy access to the chalet if you are with a pushchair or restricted mobility. Food at the restaurant is buffet, if I have to rate it 1-10, I would say 3. Breakfast was not good, cold and only 1 coffee machine working so the queue was long. Gym was not working, the spa consisted of one big jacuzzi, a steam room and a sauna room. I tried to book a massage but the only massaur was working only in the afternoon and despite my attempts 3-4 times there was no one at the reception to book. At the check in we were told to wait for an hour as there was an issue with the system to check us in. Despite us being at check in times. Few other families were waiting as well. At 1500 an hour after check in time cleaning manager came and gave permission to the receptionist to release the rooms, which mean there was nothing wrong with the IT. The kids play room was only open from 10 yo 5pm as well as the pools. One of the nights there was a folk singer and a DJ, the music was so loud that we could t sleep well till midnight and the worst of all was that everyone was allowed to smoke inside the restaurant with no ventilation or open windows whilst everyone was eating dinner and there were babies and kids around. The hotel is located right next to the main road, so a lot of traffic and noise as well as the restaurant terrace being right next to the road, you eat and instead of fresh air you breathe car and lorries fumes. All in all horrible experience.

3 days at Ismena with the family.

Gorgeous gardens, buildings and surroundings. 5mins walk from the center, super convenient parking lots. Good buffet. Spacious rooms and bathrooms. Oh the spa...! The spa is great! So many different baths, bubbly ponds, jacuzzi... The 2 apartments had 2 high quality, smart mitshubushi AC units each with sensors. We didn't come with small kids but they would have had a blast. There's a big garden where kids were playing after diner.

The big swimming pool was clean on the surface but had dirt piling up on the bottom. Some staff members were having personal beef they didn't hide from the guests. One day during dinner beer wasn't cold. In one room the wc deposit wasn't flushing well and they came to check it but didn't care much, so it remained broken, and in the second room, the AC indoor leaked down the wall and the floor. They also didn't seem to care much.

The location and spa was nice, but BG hospitality is not very professional

The new spa area was good, the whole hotel was beautiful and we really enjoyed the view. The water was good and i liked the fact that the water outside was also hot, something like 30 degrees, but i was really looking for a hot spring outside that was 40-45 degrees or more, but it wasn't like in the ad on the picture during the winter...i guess there is no such place in BG. For my brother the water was fine. The ladies in the old spa were very nice and the massage guy was nice.

Unfortunately the door was kinda broken in our living room and my kid got stuck at some point in there. The whole hotel is saving money wherever they can - there are sensors in the rooms not to turn on the AC, god forbid, to lose money for the hotel. So the first night we didnt know and we were sitting there without AC, because the window in the bathroom was open. The food was also enough for not being hungry, but it was mainly bought from the local market it seems and it was scarce, especially during the week, as there were not so many people. it seems as though the hotel was saving money wherever they could. Also, soft drinks are additional pay during dinner, which we didnt know the first night. It is not OK not to let your guests know in advance before they order that it is with an additional payment.

The quality of food degrades the hotel

The facilities are excellent, our room was big, and the SPA and swimming pools were perfect

The food was less than average and inconsistent. The bread had mold, and some of the fruits were unfresh. The overall feeling was that the kitchen was reusing the food from one meal to another, and the food was not fresh. This is petty since the hotel has great potential.

The hotel garden is very nice and the main pool is good. The room was clean and the staff was nice

The food is not good. Our room was facing outside so we had a lot of noise and we didn't enjoy the inner garden view, It was a big disappointment for us, as the garden view is nice. The room was outdated and not well equipped. The kids bed was too small.

The newer spa zone was alright and the room was clean.

The indoor pool is quite small and the rooms look old for what I expected. Although the receptionist was very friendly and helpful, the restaurant staff was the opposite. The included breakfast and dinner were mediocre. For me it’s not a good value for the money.

A lovely spa hotel

The spa and pool facilities were excellent. The service from all members of staff was excellent. The gardens are lovely and the rooms were well appointed. Good choice of food in the restaurant.

Children were allowed to play in the spa area which meant the experience was not as tranquil as it could have been. Maybe the toaster and coffee machine could have been placed further away from the buffet table as there was conjestion at breakfast time when people were queuing for tea and toast.

One of the best hotels we've ever been to!

Most of all we liked how we were treated by the staff. Everyone was very friendly. Right from the start, a joyful receptionist lady welcomed us. She came with us to show us our room. The hotel manager was always around, and he even spoke to us a few times to make sure everything was okay. The food was very nice as well. There was one lovely waitress called Krasi, who always smiled and took her time to let us know about the menu. We were charmed by the people there. The facilities were great! We loved the pool area, as well as the SPA and the gym. It was all included in our price. It was green and clean everywhere in the garden. This was one of the best hotel experiences ever! If we knew how wonderful it would be, we would have booked a longer stay at Ismena. We recommend this hotel and hope to return to it one day.

The morning coffee included in the breakfast could have tasted better and had a better quality. Also, we did not really like that we had to use some plastic cups, etc. for the breakfast. It is neither a real 4-star experience nor an environment-friendly solution.

Location is really great, the new Thermal and SPA zone is very good and the staff is very friendly. Our room was very spacious with everything you need in it.

Great spa facilities, helpful and friendly staff, beautiful setting and nice spacious room. Restaurant had good choice of food and drink, staff very nice.

Breakfast could be improved, (more fresh fruit, wider selection of bread, fresh coffee) and room was not well soundproofed so we could hear our neighbours!
