About this house rental

Welcome to our modern mountain lodge outside of Winter Park, Colorado (in Fraser).

We have designed and detailed our home full of luxuries for ourselves. Simple but we think important stuff like extra comfortable beds and roomy closets and baths. Broadband access hard-wired into every room, and WIFI of course, along with an office furnished with a color printer/copier/fax. So if you feel like working on your laptop in the hot tub, knock yourself out - it's huge, with a great view. Large flat screen TV, kid's separate entertainment room downstairs! Large main room with great views over the Fraser Valley.

Party kitchen, since we always end up there, cork floor, double oven, feng shui worthy gas range, fridge with water in the door - ice on the floor. Naturally, expandable dining table, comfy couches, rubber floored mud room for your boots and skis/boards at the front entrance, heated garage, laundry room, even poker chips.

We also have in-floor radiant heat, which is awesome, if you’ve never experienced it, once you’ve gone radiant you can't go back. No extra-dry blown hot air, no big temperature swings or uneven hot and cold spots, and your feet are always warm. Laugh at the snow while you're barefoot and happy.

Oh, yeah! Four Bedrooms - three with queen beds and one with a 2 twins that can make a king - perfect for the kiddies or young at heart adults. Five full baths, each bedroom has its own, plus there's one on the main floor. Fold out couch downstairs, two roll-away cots, and the upstairs couch is even sleepable, all perfect for the hangers-on friends. We can put 10 people (including kids) in beds. We're set up for four couples, or a family spread into four bedrooms, ideally.

Our friend and property manager, Rina Blixt, lives right next door with her family. She has worlds of experience providing concierge services to ultra picky guests when she was the manager of the exclusive Arlberg Club at the Winter Park Resort, so she can help you out with reservations, lift tickets and all around advice. She also happens to be one of the only Uber/Lyft drivers in the area, so she can pick you up if you need a lift.

Our home is located in Fraser, CO, three miles down the valley from Winter Park. Fraser is the real town, full of locals and very few tourists. The Safeway and the saloon are just down the hill. And we're on the free shuttle line for the ski area - actually two of the free shuttle lines, so a bus passes every 15 minutes going and coming, and drops you off at the Winter Park base. We're a 90 mile drive from Denver International Airport, usually less than two hours.

So if you want to stay in a hotel room, go for it, and have a good time. Winter Park is great. But if you want to stay in a home, your own fridge and kitchen and hot tub and plasma TV and lots of space and furnished, so you can actually relax after a full day on the mountain or on the trails or in the water or on the links, we think we've got a great spot. We'd better think that, because it's what we wanted.

    Our unit was clean and had everything we could ask for. The kitchen was well stocked with appliances, dishes etc. Plenty of room for the 7 of us. The view overlooking the town and mountains was great. Easy access to Granby and Winterpark. Parking for two big pickup trucks. Thank you Rina!

    House is spacious with lots of rooms - perfect for a trip with friends. We skiied during the day (15 min from mountain) and cooked dinners in the spacious kitchen at night. While the house is on two shuttle lines, we found it much easier to drive to the mountain as we were the last stop and the shuttles were sometimes too full and came infrequently. The house shows pictures of there being a grill, but there is no longer one on the property - not a big deal for our group. House was clean but definitely lived in -- a few things could use updating/repairs but did not impede our trip in any way!

    Excellent location just a few miles away from Winter Park, which you can see from the living room windows. Loved the views. Close to shopping, groceries and the bus line to Winter Park resort. Great communication with property manager. Property stocked well with towels, blankets, etc.

    Our family - 6 adults and 4 children ages 6 to 15 stayed over a long weekend. House was not clean. Living room couch had food residue in and under the cushions. Carpet is full of stains. Kitchen cabinet and drawers dirty and disorganized. There were at least 4 cabinets that had various miscellaneous food products left by others. I Clorox wiped one shelf so we could feel OK putting our food there. Many pots and plates had food residue on them. The blender had nuts left in the bottom (good thing none of us are allergic). I cleaned a lot!Kitchen was well stocked in terms of plates, bowls, cups and eating utensils but limited in terms of some basic necessities like a teapot (shown in the kitchen photos), working microwave, decent knives and dishcloths/dishtowels.They advertise a basement where kids can hang out but there is no TV in there (even though one is shown in the house photos). Kids want to watch TV and there was only one in the entire house - in the living room.There is no grill as shown in the photos. Nor is there a telescope as shown. The description mentions a computer. It’s not there either. House feels tired and unclean.Basement has one pull out couch and not the twin beds or double futon that is advertised. We found the twin beds but there were only frames and no mattresses. We had to use the pull out couch for two kids and had difficulty locating clean sheets to put on the couch. Host was great & responsive but house not good.

    When I travel it is always with a group of adults with no children. As adults I require property that has an equal amount of bedrooms and full bathrooms. I don't want anyone to be sharing a bathroom. I also want every room to have king or queen beds. We don't want to sleep in bunkbeds. This property has a bedroom with twin beds but can be converted into a king bed. This is totally acceptable for me. I wish more property owners would do this.The mudroom at the front door with a full bathroom right next to it gets extra points. I have not found this in any of the many properties that I have rented. The office area on the 2nd level was also a welcome addition for one of our group that had to work during our time there. This unit has a nice amount of space. It is convenient to everything especially a full grocery store at the bottom of the hill, approximately 3 to 5 minutes away. In the pictures there was a TV displayed in the lower level. During my stay, it was not there. I think that it might have just stopped working prior to my arrival, I sawing it sitting in the garage. It will probably be replaced soon. If you are in the hot tub or on the upper deck the views are fantastic! If I go back to the area in the future the first place that I would check for availability will be this property. Great job Rina!!!
