High St Flat

Great location, lots of space in the apartment and the view was great.

There are no other mirrors apart from the bathroom but no plug in the bathroom, which makes it impossible to see your hair to dry it or style it. It’s a small thing but providing just one free standing mirror would be great.

Weekend noise from rowdy drinkers in the middle of the night was more pronounced than I would have expected given we were so high up. Managed to wake up this sound sleeper on both nights.

This is a lovely flat in a historical building, smack in the middle of old Edinburgh. The room was large, had a nice comfy bed and sofa. The bathroom has all typical amenities (towels, shampoo, conditional, body lotion etc.) The kitchen seemed fully equipped, though we ended up not using it at all besides the dishes. The bathroom includes a bathtub and shower. Water temperature goes nice and high so you can absolutely warm up nicely after a day outside. The host was incredibly accommodating, letting us check-in very early and keep our luggage in the apartment because of our late flight on the way back. There are no keys to be handed over, just codes to the doors, which makes it super convenient. Overall, nice stay!

The temperature and cleanliness of this flat need some work. It seems this might be universal for old building flats in the city center though. The windows are only a single pane of glass (old wooden type frames). Since the weather is very moody, the wind howled through the windows all day and night, and it cooled the flat a lot. The radiators are equipped with a lock of a max of 18.5C and there is only 1 radiator in the big room. This is nearly not enough to keep you warm so we ended up in our jackets inside most of the time. I would maybe suggest adding more blankets (there was only 1 available, apart from the duvet). The bathtub glass had a bit of mold at the bottom. Our stay was nice but for the price, I would definitely search elsewhere next time.

The view! That's why you book it! Is lively and you can hear people below. Shower had lots of hot water. Unfortunately, it was extremely cold, I messaged host and never heard anything back. I ended up with blanket, 2 throws, my wool long coat, my wool scarf and pillows around my feet to keep warm. I took one shower because it was too cold to risk it.

The thermostat was set to 16c. I tried to change it, looked up the model, I believe it was remote controlled from an app- Co tacted host and got no reply. The stairs are a beast. I'm fairly in shape, I would have booked it longer, as my mom was coming into town, but those stairs were hellish. Lovely view tho.
