The actual Pension Post Hotel, which we booked, was lovely. Excellent location, and a nice traditional pension right next to Drosselgasse. After the initial booking stuff around, the staff opened the hotel just for us and were very accommodating despite the hotel being in fact closed for winter.
This hotel was actually closed for winter however they were still taking bookings on this platform! We got a message whilst we were on our way there on the train saying that we would need to check in at a DIFFERENT hotel. This was 20 minutes walk across town so we headed there on foot with our luggage - very inconvenient. We were not impressed by the alternative they were offering us and insisted that we booked Pension Post specifically for its location close to the train and right next to Drosselgasse. I said we would just cancel since they were not supplying what we booked and go to a different accommodation (one that WAS open) back where we needed to be but they absolutely did NOT want to lose the booking. In the end they agreed to open the Pension Post just for us and brought breakfast to the hotel each morning, so it all sort of worked out. They did go to a lot of trouble to follow through with our booking but I cannot feel sorry for them since they created the problem by taking bookings for a hotel that was definitely NOT open!

Convenient to the rail station and the Christmas Markets. Room was large and clean.
We chose to have breakfast included in the price. Breakfast was good but we had to walk about two blocks to another hotel owned by the same people. There were no staff stationed at the property and we had a little trouble checking in because we had to walk a couple of blocks to find the other hotel and get our keys!

The young man on the reception desk did try to help
We were booked into Hotel Post, but it was all in darkness when we arrived, we had been before some years ago and this is why we booked here. There was a notice telling guests to go to Hotel Rheinstein for the keys, it was difficult to find at first but once we had the keys and walked back to the Hotel Post we discovered a dirty room with crumpled bed linen, again we walked back and asked what they would do about all this, bearing in mind my husband is disabled and has not long had a spine operation and I had made it clear we can't do stairs or much walking. We were given a room in the Rhinestein hotel, on the 4th floor and the lift only went to the 3rd floor, 3 sets of stairs to walk! There was no car parking facilities near so I had to leave the car 3 blocks away at the back of the Post Hotel. Had we stayed in the Post we would have had to walk all the way to the Rheinstein for our breakfast each morning.
None of this was ideal in any way, and the upset really spoiled our Christmas break away. To top it all when we left after our 2 night stay our car was blocked in although we'd been assured that the man who had parked there would only be there for a couple of hours the previous night when I walked back, once again, to tell the people in the hotel they quickly located him and told him to move, back at the car he was waiting for us and started verbally abusing us!! This was obviously not the fault of the hotel owners, but it was certainly not nice.

It was a small property right in the middle of town. Had a room in the back away from the railroad tracks.
Had to walk down the block to have breakfast. It is not serve in the same building.

We had to check in at another hotel down the street, but the reception desk at other location was at the back of a restaurant and it was not easy to find from the street exactly where to go.

Did not like the breakfast was not in the same building as the room was. No front desk. The beds were not comfortable and creaked every time you moved. only 1 pillow each, and we requested 2.

Much confusion at check in due to check in at different location, Had to walk back and forth 3 times due to poor attention to detail by hotel and staff. In a word, it sucked.
clear instructions how to enter property. Clear instruction on parking. Clear instruction on everything. Pitiful.

Very good value for money.. very clean, shower fab, fridge and fan provided. Didn't need heating , but only heater provided. I found beds very uncomfortable, but that may just be personal...very easy to find from train station, but had to go few.metres down to partner hotel to get.key. man on reception was rude and unfriendly..I'd asked for quiet room and was put above noisy restaurant with music until midnight. No tea snd coffee making facilities.

The location was great and this was one of the least expensive hotels on our recent trip. We did pay to upgrade to a river view room and our view was mostly obscured by the large tree out front. When we visited, the bottom floor was closed so our reception and breakfast stuff was a few buildings away. Breakfast was good.

The hotel was clean . But you had to check in and collect the keys from down the road. Then to get in to the hotel was through a scruffy back yard and door way . The rooms were clean and location excellent.
Just the inconvenience of finding the hotel down the road to check in

The view of the Rhine from my window was beautiful, spoilt by the road/rail works that was disruptive but that could not be put down to the hotel.
On Saturday 9th August 2025 when I arrived at Hotel Post it was closed! A note on the hotel door informed me that Reception was at the Hotel Rheinstein, 150mtrs away. Hotel Rheinstein was where I was to have breakfast! I was eventually moved on the 15th August to Hotel Rheinstein as the promised WiFi was unavailable at Hotel Post! My room was regularly serviced at the Post (not daily), however, my room at the Rheinstein was rarely serviced! On the 18th I requested the broken vanity light be replaced, and I asked when my room was to be serviced? So bed was roughly tidied, towels changed, and bin emptied!. On the 22nd I asked reception when my room will be serviced as it hadn’t been done since 18th and the bedding had not been changed since moving in! The receptionist argued his colleague had cleaned my room the day before, I assured him that I knew if/when my room had been cleaned, or the bins emptied, the towels changed and my bed made and the bedding changed! When I got back to my room that day it had been properly serviced! The room was overprice as it was very small single room, with little or no facilities, no fridge, no kettle to make tea/coffee, no WiFi, no air conditioning (a fan was provided) no hotel staff after 9pm and none at all at the Post, no dining room and having to go to another hotel for breakfast, inadequate room servicing. On two occasions I was locked out of the Rheinstein Hotel and one of the guest let me in, he told me I had a key that would get me into to the night door! I had not been informed of this! When I asked reception they told me the restaurant closed at 9pm and I could get in through the night door on a narrow street at the back of the hotel, as a senior lady I was very nervous doing this! Getting back before 9pm spoilt my time in Rudesheim! I have attached a picture comparing my room to the size of the other rooms!

Location near the wine festival. In a fine older building.
The building was half closed up. But the rooms were great

Location Good. Room OK once we were moved. No breakfast on site.
No Reception, No Breakfast room, No free WiFi and the hotel should be manned. Entry from side street or garage was left open during the day and anyone could have walked in as it was un-manned. Obviously being refurbished.

Loved the location, though it’s situated right above a bar with live music and the room has no integrated ventilation system. The mattress was super comfy, water pressure was a dream.
We had ants in our room, which was not a pleasant find. The quality of the property is mediocre, little to no sound isolation.

The building I booked does not have the reception and it looks traditional but rather depressive and noisy people outside. No kettle for tea and coffee (it could be normal in Germany).

Location near the River and near downtown things is great.
Property is run down and very noisy. “soundproof” is a joke. Pillows were worst in my 10 day trip through Germany.

Great location an easy walk from the train station. The hosts were very accommodating when a delayed train meant a missed connection. They arranged for a method to retrieve the keys to our room after hours. Breakfast at the related hotel was good and located only steps away. We stayed there to catch the DK Boat to St. Goar and it was perfect! Only sorry we missed an earlier train to be able to have dinner in town. Great view of the river across the street,
The step up and into the tub/shower is higher than normal. Totally understandable in these old buildings, but for those with mobility issues, they need to be aware. We are mobile, but since I am on the shorter side, climbing in and out was a little scary.

The people who run the place are like family. We have enjoyed our visits there and recommend it to anyone who will be visiting that part of Germany. Great Rhine countryside everywhere.

Rooms were very clean and of generous size. Bathroom comes with a bath, although would be more practical to have a shower stall. Breakfast was sumptuous with a good spread of German. Thomas and his staff were very friendly and welcoming. Location is perfect and right in the center of Rüdesheim town.
Was hoping to have air conditioning especially in these summer heat, but a powerful fan was provided so it helped.
