Wakakusa-An Private Machiya near JR Nijo Station

The accommodation enjoys a safe residential neighbourhood, offering a secure staying environment overall. The room features a classic traditional style, kept tidy, clean and comfortable throughout my stay. All daily facilities are fully furnished for convenient use. Parking spots sit right next to the house; they are spacious and safe to park vehicles. Location-wise, it is incredibly practical: supermarkets, department stores, local specialty restaurants, subway stations and JR railway stations are all within easy walking distance, making daily errands and travelling around very hassle-free.

There are two minor drawbacks worth noting: the surrounding area itself is quiet, yet sound insulation of the room is not ideal. Besides, a cooking hob is fitted in the kitchen area, but the stove is unavailable for actual use.

Die Lage war für unsere Zwecke perfekt. Für zwei Personen war die Größe ideal. Wenn man etwas Besonderes möchte, ist man hier gut aufgehoben. Wir würden wiederkommen.

Die Badbeleuchtung könnte besser sein. Eine Küche ist quasi nicht vorhanden. Es gibt aber Geschirr etc.

We stayed here for a week and loved the location and the house. very clean and daily fresh towels, free water and nice selection of tea and some hand drip coffees available and also refilled when needed

it got a bit chilly while we were there and the only heating is from the aircon unit. beds and pillows are a bit hard I would have prefered tatami matts to sleep on…based on the description I thought we would have both. otherwise very nice and fluffy duvet

- spacious - quiet neighbourhood - 10 mins from a station - cool building / has character - has a small Japanese garden - comfy beds - easy check in / staff on check in super helpful - good shower room

- on check out a member of staff we hadn’t met was buzzing the doorbell at bang on 11am to be let in, found this weird as it’s never the case in hotels and you get a few extra minutes, we checked out 11:05am. - woke up mid afternoon to staff cleaning downstairs while we were asleep upstairs, they stayed for a period of time when we were told they’d just drop off towels and leave, this was very uncomfortable. - you can hear through the walls of nearby houses which sounds like it’s in your home. Lot of creaking through the night (probably due to its an old wooden building) but this often sounded like someone was in your home downstairs - no door for the bedroom, felt a bit exposed - no laundry facility but was aware of this booking the stay. Would just have been good.
