Beautiful home with so many surprises! Excellent location. Responsive hosts.

Very special and charming place. You definitely feel like its an experience in itself with various relica and its a perfect base camp to explore Kyoto. They even have a massive map for you to help plan your quests :) Facilities were excellent with nice en suite toilet to main bedroom upstairs and very clean throughout. Bike rental super convenient too. Highly recommemd for a couple, small group or family.

If you are quite tall you might hit your head on beams. Also bikes could be better maintained, especially given there is am extra charge for them

Fantastic, quirky little place. Host was super helpful advising on local attractions and places to eat.

It was cold, but the heaters did a good job of warming the place up.

The host is friendly and takes pride to his property. The property location is OK with 10-15 minutes walk to the subway

To be clear, this property charged reasonably with its offerings. I would classify this as a budget type of accommodation for family group that needs more space. To me I would not choose again due to: (1) when I choose an Airbnb while traveling with family, I focus on kitchen and laundry, neither of these two met my expectations. The kitchen is very small with limited offering that I do not think it can accommodate some cooking for a family group . The dryer takes forever to dry clothes. Each time you use washing machine and dryer you will pay. The amount is 100 Yen not much but you will have to keep coins in order to be able to use it. (2) The downstairs are roomy and the upstairs bedroom size is good but the ceiling is low and the stairs are dark and narrow. The host said I should learn about the Japanese culture and the Japanese way, which I agree but I have stayed in other facilities with much nicer experiences. I know this is my personal feeling and may not be something that other travelers care. Because of that we only stayed for one night even we booked five nights. We moved to a hotel which we had much better experience for our Kyoto trip. We did not get any credit back from the host as this is the risk of taking airbnb. My rating above is not because we did not get credit back. My only intension is to provide candid feedback for other travelers that may focus on some of the things that I focus.
