Riad Aya

just left Riad Aya after 3 nights there and I have only good things to say about it. The staff were incredibly warm and welcoming. When the AC wasn’t working as strong as we’d hoped, they quickly switched our room without any fuss. When we left early for a tour they packed us breakfast to go. The Riad itself is beautiful - a very comfortable and pretty courtyard, nice rooftop with a small plunge pool, and meticulously clean. The rooms are small but very comfortable with large bathrooms and each with their own personality. Our teenage sons had their own room With two beds and the AC worked great. The location was close to everything - we walked everywhere and felt safe. That said, Marrakech - at least in the Medina - is a gritty city. If you’re looking for the Four Seasons and pristine streets, none of it will be for you. But if you’re willing to look past that we loved it and had a wonderful time - we would definitely recommend Riad Aya.

Excellent location for the Medina and visiting the local attractions. Taxis can't get directly to the door but you just walk down the old street to Riad Aya. Good Wifi so planning the day in evening was easy. Staff friendly and very accommodating when it came to breakfast. We did an excursion and they started breakfast early just for us. In evening there was a room where we could sit and play games with the kids (teenagers). Some small shops nearby so you can buy drinks or snacks.

We are a family of 5 so we need 2 rooms. Unfortunately the sofa bed was not massive for a larger frame person and best suited to a teenager or smaller frame adult. No fridge in the room but this wasn't a mssive problem for me but kids wanted cold water as it was very hot in Aug.

The riyad itself is beautiful, clean, and perfectly located near attractions like Jemaa el-Fnaa. But what truly made our stay special was all the lovely staff. From the night we arrived, Mohamed made us feel so welcomed, alway being incredibly kind and having great conversation with us. Badr and the lovely ladies working at the riad were also always eager to help us in any way they could. We loved meeting Coscous the cat here -- a real highlight from our stay! We truly loved our experience at Riyad Aya and hope to be back again soon!
