Choyo Tei is a large resort-styled establishment. Check-in was fast and efficient, The lobby made a strong first impression - it's spacious and impressive, and the Koi pond inside adds a calming effect especially after a long day travelling on the road. Our room and the overall building have more of a classic Showa-era feel to the decor. Our room is clean and functional, but don't expect brand-new furnishings. Toiletries provided were very basic - the usual bath gel, shampoo and hair conditioner, and just shavers and toothbrushes. If you need more especially shower caps, bring your own. We had buffet dinner and it was truly the main event for many guests. There was a lot of quantity and variety - seafood, hot dishes, desserts, the whole spread. For us, the quality was a bit hit-and-miss. Some items were fine, but it didn't quite live up to the anticipation we had. If you go mainly for lots of choice, it's ok, but if quality is your top food priority, just set expectations accordingly. A pleasant surprise was catching the short firework display from the hotel ground in the evening, That was a lovely touch and gave the stay a local flavour. We also browse the duty- free shop. It is good for picking up some local Hokkaido's snacks and souvenirs. They do carry a small corner of North Face gear, but the selection of styles and sizes is very modest. It is a nice convenience fir a quick purchase, but those looking for unique fashion lines and big discounts may want to manage their expectations. Note: Ask at reception the shuttle to use the onsen at its sister hotel.
