Hostal Zabala

The staff I met very pleasant, the place very quiet and nice, the shower water pressure great, bed comfortable. Enough electrical sockets, soap and shampoo, bed side lighting. Coffee maker etc. There is a DIA supermarket (small but fine) across the street, very convenient. Staff welcoming and very responsive when contacted. I also liked the fact that as you come in the building, and up the stairs for example, lights automatically come on as you move. Which is great. (not everywhere do I see that in my travels).

These are just comments and not important criticism; the place is just fine, and as I said, the staff was welcoming and very responsive when contacted. So here we go with some comments/suggestions: As a lady, I would expect two towels for the shower, one for body, one for hair. I first had two as the room was a double room (but inhabited with one person). The next day the second towel was gone. I asked for one, I got one. The day after, the towel was gone again. And it happened like that for 1-2 days, then I asked for one again. Shouldn't have to be an " issue". (No big deal, but a detail worth considering for lady travelers. Thank you.!) A suggestion: find a way, to hold the two beds together (a clip holding frames) so they don't separate/move. It would be nice. The AC in the room while not bad, wasn't strong enough so to speak, but ok. (I would assume with those very high temperatures we had, the AC was working at its fullest capacity). The TV I think seems tiny to watch from the bed, maybe a bit larger would be more comfortable, but that is just a suggestion. The building elevator - which takes to the second floor where the hostel is - broke several times during my 5 day stay, I had to drag things up the stairs, including my suitcase on my way out. Pretty annoying as with those hot Summer temperatures, I was soaked by the time I got to the street with it.

The location was very central, everything was very accessible. The staff were incredibly, super kind and helpful.

The property is in a very central location between 2 metro stations and 15’ walk to the museums (Prado / Reina Sofia). It is super clean and has effective air conditioning. We are grateful of the hospitality, especially by the cleaning lady Irma, who was super polite and helpful! A value for money small room in Madrid. The neighborhood was safe and rather quiet at night. 2 supermarkets very close.

The cleaner who worked here was very kind and helpful. The place does what it says on the tin. Good price, great location close to big locations.
