Captain johns

The apartment was excellent cleaned every day with clean towels and bedding changed every other day. The location/view was exceptional absolutely out of this world. The hosts Caption John and Joan̈na were brilliant very helpful friendly and we saw them every day they were checking everything was ok and we were having a enjoyable time. We will definitely return to this wonderful place (we called it a little piece of heaven)

Perfect for a couple.

The location was fantastic. A perfect viewing of the sunset. They keep the property clean and tidy and attended to our room daily. Check in was smooth and easy. Communication with the host was 10/10.

Amazing panoramic and sunset views, located on the peaceful aide of Oia

Amazing panoramic and sunset views and located in a quiet end of Oia away from the throngs of crowds, yet a short walk into town and the main attractions. Apartment was spacious and comfortable, easy to get to from nearby free parking. A pleasure to meet owner Giannis (Captain John) himself, who pioneered cruises to the volcano crater island centre many decades ago. Overall a very memorable stay and is highly recommended.

Book this stay for 1 reason, the Terrace with amazing views and the price. If you want 5 star and the prices associated

There is really only one exceptional thing about this property….the terrace and the simply stunning view of Oia, sunsets and the Caldera you get from it. Inside the property is very tired and old and needs lots of refurbishment, but should this worry you, NO, because most of the time you will be sitting on that terrace taking in those amazing vistas. Cleaned and towels etc replaced daily by a very efficient and brilliant cleaner named Christina (a lovely lady) which is another good point. Didn’t have a toaster to start with but was given one when I enquired. Could do with some more cooking pots and utensils because prices for restaurants in Oia are RIDICULOUSLY high. One exception is Anemomilos which is the closest restaurant to Captain John’s, always had great, fresh and tasty meals and the prices are very fair.

Amazing views, fantastic value for money!

Fantastic stay, we didn't want to leave. Absolutely amazing views! Perfect to see Caldera and the sunset while in the spa (pics of exact view to show). The staff were amazing and so accommodating. Cleaner came daily and did a really thorough job. Such fantastic value for money. So glad we chose this place! Easy walk in to Oia (10-20 minutes depending on what part), so perfect for meals/bus etc but away from all the crowds. TV in bedroom with streaming services. 100% recommend this place.

You won't get better value for money with these views. A few unimportant things - The spa is small and the L seat in it half faces away from the view, but you can still sit 2 comfortably in there and manoeuvred so you're both facing that prime sunset view. Given the prime views, you also have small walking tours (usually less than 5 people) up above you that can see some of the balcony/the spa, and more people that come at sunset. They can't get close to or block your views at all due to private access in the pathway next door. Just be aware that it's not fully private - however it is MUCH more private than MANY of the pools/spas we saw in Oia otherwise. The inside is as photographed, nothing glamorous and could use some TLC, but good enough and comfortable. No need to spend time indoors with that balcony anyway! Aircon is in living area only, not in bedroom. A fan would be perfect to have in the bedroom given that. No TV in living room, only main bedroom.

We had a fabulous stay! Highly recommend.

The apartment was big and comfortable, had a balcony with amazing views of the caldera. It was also quiet as it was a bit off from the centre of Oia town. Although it was a shared terrace, our neighbours were almost always out, so privacy wasn't an issue. We didn't mind the short walk into town as it was a beautiful path along the caldera with stunning views all the way! The property was furnished to our liking, bed was comfortable, a nice kitchenette with a coffee machine. And Joanna was so kind and helpful.

The breakfast although was large and sumptuous, was a takeaway and served in paper boxes. But having it on the terrace every morning with the stunning view more than makes up for any shortcoming!

The view is spectacular and it's worth the money for that. The splash pool was great and the apartment was extremely clean. It's located in a quiet part of Oia, away from the crowds. Maria, who takes care of breakfast and cleaning, is lovely.

Communication was very bad. I had asked for a transfer from the airport and it didn't appear, and no-one answered the phone that appears in Booking. I made my own way there, getting lost in the steep lanes with a heavy suitcase, until I eventually found the hotel. There was another number printed on a door and fortunately someone came to let me in. Cooking facilities are very basic. A microwave would be useful.

What a disappointment! Not a very pleasant stay, the only good thing is the view.

Unfortunately our experience was not as good as the other guests. Nobody welcomed us at the check-in or the following days, quite ackward to figure out by yourself which is your apartment… plus the communication prior the arrival was very poor, difficult to get answers to the emails. The decoration of the apartment is quite modest and there are plenty of spaces for improvement such as the bed, quite uncomfortable, the bathroom very basic, the kitchen not well equipped, the lighting very weak, an extremely noisy fridge…. Absolutely not value for money: it seems Santorini has become just a money machine. What a disappointment!

A magical place for lovers of beautiful views, peace and home atmosphere.

Fantastic location of the property, a beautiful view of the caldera and Oia. Apartment very atmospheric, Cycladic style, well equipped. It will not be liked by lovers of modern and sterile interiors. Very clean, smelling linen, discreet and friendly service. Very good breakfast - menus to choose from the day before. Good parking space close to the facility. Small terrace with a crazy view shared with neighbors but still nice. I do not recommend to people with young children and people who have difficulty climbing stairs. Besides, peace and quiet. A short and beautiful walk to the center of Oia. Close to a well-stocked shop and a very good tavern. Brilliant place!

Some of the restaurants nearer here were closed for the season. Mid-October is probably the latest to visit. Personally I would stay in Fira and visit Santorini for a long day. Much more to do in Fira.

Amazing views

The property has a great location, just at the very end of Oia, which gives you more privacy. The view on the sea and caldera from the terrace is stunning. The apartments are clean and comfortable. Comparing to other hotels with caldera view, the price is reasonable. The suite comes with a small private pool.

The suite is located on the top floor just next to the reception that is not clearly marked. Additionally, there is no door, no separation between these two. We had a lady who tried to barge into our room with her suitcases as she mistaken it for the reception.
