Good stay in the centre of Esslingen

The Hotel am Schelztor is just at the entrance of the historical centre of Esslingen. The room was clean, good size, the bed comfortable, the badroom clean and functional. There is a parking just behind the hotel wich is conviaient. Breakfast is correct, traditional German.

The Wi-Fi could be a bit better, Teams went down sometimes. There is no store to make the room completely dark at night.

Parking terrible. Hotel ok

It was close to the medieval market

The parking was ridiculous. Layered the cars to where you could barely get in and had to wait for people to move their cars before we could move ours. The vinyl on the bed frame was peeling off.

More like an English bed and breakfast than a hotel . I get the impression it was typically German

It was very clean . Little dog to welcome us in the morning . Very friendly lady in the morning with tea and coffee and breakfast . Lovely bread and cake for breakfast . Very good position .

Nowhere to get any refreshments except for in the morning during breakfast service . Very small not particularly comfortable lounge which was often in use. Strong smell of smoke in foyer .

My October 2025 Stay at Hotel Am Scheltzor

The location of the hotel with respect to "old town" Esslingen was nice. The room was comfortable and clean. The breakfast was OK.

Comfy hotel in the center of Esslingen.

Nice, clean hotel room, friendly staff at convenient location. The hotel is in the center of Esslingen and very close to cafes, bakery's, bars and also very close to the train station.

We were a big group (20 people) that went for a festival and booked multiple rooms in the hotel. We chose this hotel because it wrote that there is available parking. Once we booked we also called to verify this and they said that yes there is available parking. However a few days before the stay they sent us an email saying that parking spots are limited and cannot be reserved. As a result some of us had to park in a external parking and pay 15 euros per day. We also called and asked if we can double park some cars so less people would pay and they agreed. But then the next morning they asked us two times to move the cars even though they were not blocking anyone. Finally, when they entered to clean the rooms they lost one of our festival wristbands that was on the table and they could not find it. That was a big problem for us.

Eßlingen and this hotel turned out to be two of the best decisions of my recent European trip

Everything about this simple, family-run hotel pleased me. Not just the well-stocked breakfast and the fast internet, but the simple things that often go unnoticed: the instant hot water, the fully functional shower head (the handheld ones often have broken wall mounts, but not this one), hooks on the walls (why is this so rare in hotels these days?), and real hangers (not the kind where they can only be used in the closet) so I could do a little sink-laundry and hang my t-shirts and socks to dry near the window. The location was also a real plus: a few hundred meters straight up the street from the train station and right on the edge of the Altstadt. And what an Altstadt Eßlingen has to offer! It was my first visit to this lovely little city, but I will return, and when I do it will be to the Hotel am Schelztor. Oh, and did I mention little Max, the friendly little pup who "guards" the reception area in the morning?

Perfect location! Great staff! Very clean!

The front office staff and the cleaning crew were so nice! They helped me out after I lost my key (which I accidentally left behind at a family member's house) and couldn't get into the hotel late at night. The room was always spotless after a cleaning. The location is ideal if you want to be near the train station (5 min walk) or close to all the shops/cafes/restaurants.

The decor is a bit outdated. And the walls/wallpaper in my room could use some TLC.

When the fire alarm went off at 1 o’clock in the morning, no hotel staff arrived. It was only the other guests and us.

Excellent location, just a few minutes walk from the historic town center. Large room with enough space for a family. Good breakfast and atmosphere.

The hotel has a great location and is a good value.

The location of the am Scheltzor Hotel was within walking distance of the city center, restaurants and shopping. The included breakfast was very good. Parking is available behind the hotel.

Finding the hotel once you arrive by car in Esslingen was a challenge which the GPS System of my vehicle helped considerably.

Great location and comfortable room!

The location was perfect for me. The hotel is located on the edge of the old town so it's perfect for visiting Esslingen, but it is easy to go out on day trips by car!

Covid. I miss being able to talk to hotel staff to get their help and assistance while visiting new places.
