Nice location and lovely staff
Rooms are outdated, the bathroom was not in the best shape for the price of my stay and the breakfast eggs royale were mediocre
The spa doesn’t open until 10am and check out is 11am, would be nice to be early to relax early morning

Location ,room and breakfast were excellent !
When I could not order valet parking because I did not have the car details prior to arrival it would have been good to have been told I could not drive to the front of the hotel and there was access through the car park.

The location was excellent. The room was a nice comfortable size. The heating/ air con was good. The water supply for having a bath was excellent.
The staff were excellent and attentive..
The price of our stay included breakfast. Only to find out you had to pay for a cooked breakfast at £12.50!each. Which added another £25.00 to the bill..Very misleading.
On arrival £100.00 extra is taken on your card as a back up for any meals , drinks you have. Not explained at point of booking hotel.
The snacks left in the room if you decided to have any were excessively over priced.
The menu could be better for light meals.

Staff were lovely. Location was perfect. Public areas of hotel were beautiful. Bed was comfortable.
Room felt a bit dated. No bathrobe and slippers in the room. Bathroom door was dusty. Shower was over bath (on checking afterwards this was correctly described in room info for standard room). Only 1 lift so waited a long time when using lift at busy times. Struggled to get to sleep due to outside noise but not hotel related.

Great location and fixtures and facilities
I found some of the staff a little unhelpful or difficult when I asked for a table in the bar and then room service proved a challenge! These are expectations when paying a lot for one night

Beautiful hotel spotless clean. Extremely polite and helpful staff especially door men. Room was perfect lots of little extras relevant to a hotel of its class.
Breakfast let it down slightly which was a shame. Wasn’t overly busy but we waited 1/2 hour for cooked food. Eggs Benedict wasn’t hot and toast was forgotten for one guest.
The heating system in rooms is quite noisy.

The reception and bar are nice
The rooms are dated . There were not clean and there was a lot of dust on the head board, one of our rooms had an iron , burn mark on the carpet. There were items on the menus that were available at breakfast and the cooked breakfast wasn’t great. I would expect a lot more for the price paid and I would like to have a refund

Lovely luxury hotel with little extras that make it comfortable. Spacious rooms and decorated nicely. Lovely, warm staff.
For the amount we paid we should have been able to have a hot breakfast rather than adding an additional £12.
Chester can be rowdy at night, especially on a weekend so a room away from the front would have been a bit better

Beautiful hotel in an amazing location for everything in Chester. The executive room was lovely and spacious, no view but this wasn’t an issue. Breakfast was really good.
We stayed for 2 nights. Our room wasn’t serviced despite us putting the please clean room on the door and vacating the room for nearly 5 hours from 10am. When we approached staff they apologised and said they were very busy and had to prioritise check-ins!!! They gave us clean towels and some water, we were disappointed at this but didn’t let it spoil our trip away. On check-out I mentioned it but only received another apology. I would have expected more to be honest.

As always, cocktails and bar staff were excellent and the room was clean and comfortable. Special mention to room service who helped us out when we couldn't open the mini bar coke with the bottle opener provided.
staff on front desk appeared stressed and mardy - time of year perhaps? They were
not at all helpful regarding finding car park. We knew there was an entrance via the rear door from the car park as we have been to you previously, but we couldn't remember which floor. They told us the number but there are absolutely no signs in the car park and your floor does not have this number displayed! This surely needs to be better signed and you really should display the floor number clearly on your floor of the car park.

Needs updating, very little effort for Xmas. Car park is an absolute nightmare and I would never return.

Location was superb as its right in the heart of the shopping area of Chester.Lift was ideal as my wife has a sight issue and stairs are a problem. The room was an excellent size but we went for an executive suite room for this reason, bed was really comfortable and facilities in the room were excellent.
Only downside was getting our starter before any drinks appeared on the table but we accepted the restaurant was busy and didn’t make a fuss and didn’t impact our stay at all.Hotel is adjacent to the east gate shopping centre and there is an entrance to the hotel rear which is located half way between floors one and two of the car park, very confusing and not very well highlighted, even in the shopping centre a wee sign for hotel would be welcome as we walked out shopping centre and all the way round to hotel front, easier when you know how next time.

We ate at the restaurant and the food was perfect and service even better!
Never had a warmer welcome in a hotel and the staff will do whatever possible to make your stay one to remember! Can’t thank the staff enough for their hospitality!!!!
What a memorable stay!

in any other hotel the room would be amazing however having stayed here before and booking direct last time I do feel this time our room was of a lower standard (slightly) The concierge was attentive and the gentleman who brought the bags to our room was charming. The breakfast was better than previously. Despite being in the centre of a very busy Chester it was very quiet and easy to get to sleep. The bathroom mirror and lighting is very flattering. Booking a while in advance gets you very good value for money indeed
the bathroom was tired, the bath needed replacing as it was marked and there was a little mould above the shower. The bedroom wasn't as big as I thought it would have been but we didn't book the highest spec where we had when we stayed stayed before. We waited a while to be seated for breakfast when they weren't that busy. We tried to open the window and it slammed open and we struggled to shut it. It would be well worth paying for concierge parking as the car park is a public one that is busy

the rooms were large, we booked a suite adjacent to my daughter who also had a suite. We were there for her wedding.
We made a request for my daughters suite to be 'turned around' fully for her second night as it was her wedding night and her husband would be joining her, unfortunately this did not happen and they arrived following their reception to find dishes and food left on their table, used towels in the bathroom and the bed had not been changed with fresh linen.
I did not find this out until the following day and I was very upset. The deputy Manager spoke with me and I explained how upset I was on behalf of my daughter and son- in -law as I had paid for their stay as part of their wedding present.
The Manager then authorised a complimentary night's stay for their anniversary. On reflection I feel the one night stay in compensation was not adequate. However, we were dealt with courteously.

Extensive mould in the bathroom. I spoke to reception about when I would be leaving; they told me someone would contact me, but I have heard nothing. This used to be Chester's best hotel. Not any longer. Poor customer service and cleanliness issues - very sad

Absolutely a great hotel ,we were made welcome as soon as we arrived and greeted by the Concierge who sorted our cases and car out ,( one of the old school. Even remarried our name every time he saw us and said hello) . Check-in in was smooth and staff really polite .
We had booked afternoon tea which was excellent and more than enough . Our room was really large and comfortable and the separate door from bedroom to outside door is a winner as nothing is heard from anyone going past at night.
Our stay was too short 🤣 we had a little hiccup as we had a smell from the shower but I wondered if it was from the refurb they had done and maybe plaster drying out,we reported it and were offered a move or some air fresheners but we were ready for bed so said it would be ok for air fresheners which arrived in 2 minutes.

It didn't quite meet the 5 star status expected. The bathroom looked tired and in need of redecoration and repair in some cases. The bedroom was not as comfortable as expected. The chairs were heavy and not particularly comfortable. Breakfast was OK, but would have benefited from a buffet style offer.

Great location. Staff were very friendly. Comfortable rooms
For the price you pay, it’s a bit cheeky to then ask to pay extra for cooked breakfast.

The restaurant and champagne bar were excellent. The staff and service in both locations were superb.
The check in process lacked attention to detail and the young lady helping us didn’t seem to know what she was doing.
The spa. Would seriously recommend you avoid this at all costs. The service by the Spa Manager, Pauline, was atrocious - her attitude of arguing with me about a treatment was rather surprising and even more shocking was nobody knew what treatments my husband and I had booked despite having confirmed them by email to me. My manicure and pedicure left something to be desired and was not at all what I had asked for. When I queried this, Pauline proceeded to argue with me. This lady should not be in a customer facing role and certainly not in what one would hope to be a higher end spa.
In addition to this, our room wasn’t serviced until gone 3pm which spoiled us being able to enjoy a nice room.
Even more shocking was the room service breakfast. Aside from being given conflicting information from 3 different staff members as to whether we could get hot food sent to our room, the breakfast we did receive was extremely poor. We were sent Alpen instead of the organic muesli we had ordered, the croissants tasted dry and old and worse still the small jars of jam and marmalade on our tray had been opened and used by someone else!!
When we brought the short comings to the Hotel Manager she assured us she would pass our concerns on to the Managing Director and he would contact us. That is over a month ago and we have heard nothing. If this is the standard from the top, then it’s not really surprising that we had the poor experience that we did for a not insignificant cost. We felt very let down as my husband, who is in the middle of cancer treatment, had wanted to stay here for a long time and as this was meant to be a relaxing weekend away for us, it fell far short.

Excellent location. Very comfortable. Excellent staff
Booking.com shows breakfast included. On arrival told only continental breakfast included and cooked items additional charge. The following morning told only light breakfast of hot drinks, toast and porridge or cereal included and additional charge for continental meats and cheese . When I said that on booking with Booking.com the booking showed breakfast included I was told this was a frequent complaint from guests booking via Booking.com and nothing hotel could do to clarify on the Booking site what was actually included.

£300 a night and didn’t include a full English breakfast. That came at another £12.50 a head. Also, made to wait 20 minutes before we could enter reception to check in, due to a military wedding party forming a guard of honour for the bride and groom.

Super location. A comfortable, calm oasis in the heart of Chester. Lovely welcoming staff. Convenient parking.
We do find drinks expensive here and they add a large service charge on them as well.
Unfortunately we had an extremely noisy pipe or something at four o’clock in the morning which was very loud but the next night it was fine so hopefully it was just a one off.

Caring staff in central hotel, comfortable rooms, traditional luxury, complimentary drinks and snacks in rooms, great quality linen on beds.
Parking is in adjacent multistory carpark, linked to hotel, with many spaces tricky to park in with ill positioned supports and the online parking app with number plate recognition with no mercy if you are a little late returning to your car. brasserie staff could benefit from additional training and attendance to guests

location 100%.
poor ‘included breakfast’ - toast & jam classes as continental breakfast, if you want a little cheese and ham sir, pay an extra £12.50….
lack of informal bar/relaxation area.
