We had the most amazing hosts. Bruno and Fabienne made our 3 night stay a very memorable experience. The property is spotlessly clean and beautiful. Our hosts provided everything you could need and so much attention to detail, they have thought of everything you could possibly need to have the most comfortable and relaxing stay at their beautiful home. Our room, (La Suite) was extremely spacious and beautifully decorated, we could not ask for more. We had bikes and Bruno ensured they were kept in a secure place, there is plentiful parking outside the property and our breakfasts were amazing and delicious with many home made treats and conserves that Fabienne had made herself. Both Bruno and Fabienne ensure their guests have the best and memorable home stay in Normandy and speak good English which we appreciated very much! The property is located very conveniently near all the D Day important sites, beaches and Caen so there is everything you need at this beautiful bed and breakfast property to enjoy and explore Normandy or just relax for a break. Can I just express that my comments are relating to the period we stayed (D-Day period) and how it supported our time there but would recommend here for discovery and location for the wider Normandy region as.well. I have stayed here before and like the first time and my reason for returning, was because all your needs are catered for and the hosts are friendly and helpful. 1. Accommodation is clean tidy and maintained, with regular towel and bedding changes. 2. Breakfast is beautifully presented and sets you up for the day. 3. All aspects of the building are spacious; breakfast area, game and recreational area ( pool, darts, drafts and lots of board games) and the garden which is delightful especially at night when lit. 4. The location is set back from the coast by about 20 minutes, which to me is the positive as it doesn't sit on top of the Normandy and D-Day historical crowds but is located within the Canadian sector in-between Sword and Juno in-between the motorway N13 and coastal roads D35 & D12 for access to the the US Section Omaha or Utah if required. 5. There is plenty of historical literature to look at in English and French, as well as leaflets on attractions in the area.

The only thing I would say is that Basly has one petisserie and that is your only shop (to the best of my knowledge l) in the village. You need to drive 10 minutes in any direction to find a larger shopping area or a town with other facilities but to me that was the appeal.

Le Clos de la Barre is in a beautiful and quiet village not far from many sights. It’s maintained very well and the hosts are very good at welcoming guests with all the information they need. The breakfast was delicious. This is highly recommended.
