I was uneasy with the aromas above all. Cheap is OK but this was below my baseline experience.

I feel that Micale whose review from September 2025 captures the unease at leaving a bad review however the traveller should know of the shortfalls as set out there, about house smells and not entirely clean. I an not easy to make uncomfortable, but on this occasion I was. I have no idea if I was just unlucky, based on other reviews.

Below basic standards

I really hesitated before writing this, because the hosts were very kind. But kindness isn’t enough when you’re charging people to stay. I booked this place because of all the glowing reviews, and honestly I don’t understand them — it makes me wonder if we even stayed in the same place. The house is cluttered to the point there’s no space to even open a suitcase. Cleanliness was a big problem: sheets had stains and hair on them, towels smelled bad, the bathroom had dust and hair, and nothing felt fresh. Worst of all, the whole house has a strong, unbearable odor that makes you feel sick. It was so uncomfortable that we ended up sleeping in our clothing. After leaving, we had to seal our clothes in separate bags because the smell had stuck to them. The only acceptable point was breakfast, and the location is indeed good. The house could have potential, but in its current state it should not be rented to guests. Something is definitely off with the reviews here.

Location. Lovely road, close to sea with beautiful villas all around and a few little shops

Where do I start. I have to be honest. I simply cannot agree with the positive reviews I have seen and cannot recommend. Sorry to the hosts, but although this was a budget place, minimum standards of cleanliness are not upheld. Dust and musty smells. We certainly do not believe the bedlinen was clean. Weird invitation to have an apero in the park. Tasteless low quality meal, inspite of host saying he had bought fish from the market and made the Asian rice ( which was not home cooked I am sure). Breakfast was OK, although eggs were raw! Claustrophobic atmosphere, made worse by cloying watchfulness of the owners who watched while we ate. I managed to keep the conversation going. They asked for our home address details and wanted feedback written. We were friendly and obliged but only because we felt a bit intimidated. All too much. Avoid.

The hosts were really nice, that's about the only positive thing, to be honest.

They have 2 cats which were running around the place and the room was very small, no WiFi, no towels, only 1 plug socket of which the light was connected to and very cluttered all through the hotel. Breakfast was basic and again the cats were on the dinner table when I came down. Felt very uncomfortable the whole situation to be honest.

Location is amazing - few minutes from the sea. Large parking right on the corner. Home made breakfast is amazing. Very friendly owners who lives here. Very interesting things from owners around (if you like home staff) and very nice things in the bathroom (a lot of towles well paced in home style). It is really like you stay as a family guest in somebody's country house.

It is actually not a hotel or apartment but a few rooms and bathroom in the house there owner still live. So, it is not like only yours private space to stay. Somebody like it, somebody not. Second room has really small space and sofa bed.

Friendly welcoming hosts. Would have been happy to give us a very early breakfast.

Noisy til quite late on main street. It was too warm to want to close both windows. Only one decent size towel for 2 people. Room was a bit small.

Superb

The hosts were friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were excellent. The property is located in a nice area with parking nearby. It is close to the beach (part of D-day Juno beach. There are several cosy restaurants on the sea front selling good food at reasonable prices. The property/village are well placed for exploring the local area by car, bike or on foot. Gold Beach at Arromanches, Sword beach at Ouistreham (ferry port) are less than 20 minutes by car and both Caen and Bayeux are within 30 minutes drive.

Hygiène insuffisante : sale et odeur importante d'urine de chat Espaces exigus. On ne peut pas poser sa valise dans le coin clic clac, on ne peut pas circuler, ce n'est pas une chambre ! Matelas de l'autre chambre creusé. Petit déjeuner à la limite de la fraîcheur pour le fromage et jambon et lait chaud des enfanrs. Personnes très présentes. Tout est étouffant

Cette maison est envahie ( y compris le linge fourni) de très fortes odeurs nauséabondes et incommodantes d animaux non mentionnés dans l annonce. De plus de nombreux tapis et objets envahissants rendent l atmosphère inconfortable.

L accueil par Thierry et Sophie vous mettra tous suite l aise . La chambre est bien éclairée avec deux grands fenêtres le petit déjeuner est correct la table d hôte permet de d’échanger des d’anecdotes avec Thierry et Sophie . À 5 minutes à pied de la mer

Séjour confortable et très bon marché tout près de la plage.

Accueil chaleureux des propriétaires dans leur petite maison de pêcheur traditionnelle. Petite chambre agrémentée d'un bon matelas et de nombreuses décorations ; salle de bain privative avec douche et baignoire dans le couloir ; mini-pièce contiguë à disposition pour poser vêtements et bagages et prendre un thé ou un café (plateau de courtoisie). Mention spéciale pour le petit-déjeuner sucré-salé : varié, frais et copieux ! Très bon rapport qualité-prix !

Attention en cas d'allergie aux acariens, car il y a de très nombreux tapis, rideaux et tissus anciens dans toutes les pièces de la maison.
