Charming hotel alongside the intra-muros of St Malo. The nearby Porte St Pierre looks out onto the piscine de Bon-Secour

Amazing location

The location is right next to the city wall and steps from the beach, which is amazing. The staff were friendly and helpful. Would recommend staying here for the price and location.

My room had a window that looked directly at the city wall, which was great, but there were constantly people walking by and looking in the window, so I had to keep the curtain closed. There is no AC, and it was pretty hot. Also, the shared toilet is not ideal. I booked last minute, so the only room left did not have a private toilet. The shower smelled like urine, so I think people use it instead of walking to the shared toilet.

Simple, basic , excellent location but not very clean

The location was good, near the beach and the ramparts. In the intro-muros part. The breakfast , at 10 eur per person, was fair although limited choice . They offer a private garage, which is quite a luxury in the intra-muros . The garage wasn’t onsite but a 3-5 minutes walk. Still , overall convenient .

The room was not clean. Although the beds were made every day and the beds were clean , the floor was dirty . And the bathroom was not well clean . Our family quadruple room had a small bathroom with a small shower and a toilet (most other rooms have a shared bathroom ). But the toilet was an electric one (suction toilet ); so you are not supposed to through paper and it makes a lot of noise. In a tight room with another 3 people , it’s not comfortable. The walls were very thin so you could hear all noises .

We didn't look forward to go back to the room after a very tiring day out.

Location is just next to the beach

The room is really very small for 2 of us to stay in. There was on a shower and a sink in the room. We had to use a shared toilet. There were no a/c and no lift to any of the floors.

Awesome secret find, would go again

Superb for what I wanted to do. I have been to St Malo before. Previously stayed on the outskirts and lost so much time to walking back to hotel. This time I wanted to be in the old town, got that and more being next to the town wall and public sea swimming pool. Awesome location

Interesting.

Staff brilliant!! Very friendly and helpful, absolute pleasure to interact with. Food also excellent - best value for money! The problem lies with the size of the room, due to the history thereof and the location next to the city wall, the rooms are VERY small. Saying this, it was very close to the beach and that was a bonus. The small room made it difficult to move around. TV was a laptop. bed horrible, too soft and uncomfortable pillows. Weird toilet paper system, sometimes impossible to get toilet paper out of the apparatus!

Fair cheap option for a short stay

Great location, two steps away from the beach 15 minutes walk from ferry to UK. Comfortable bed, kind staff. Fair quality/price ratio for a one-night stay.

Room very basic, WiFi didn't work, building had "paper walls", so it was somewhat noisy.

I loved the location near the walls of st Malo and the beach .

The rooms were maintained greatly and needed a refurb but this didn't stop me enjoying the stay and the helpful and attentive owner and staff were ready .

Disappointing

The breakfast was good as you expect for a french breakfast and the host and staff were nice and it was next to the beach in a quiet location

Our room was very cramped we had to get in the shower sideways. It was small and the wash hand basin was right by it making it very difficult to wash or shower and the toilet was in a door right beside my bed you banged your head on the wall in front of the toilet as you wiped yourself we were there for 3 nights so we put up with it ,having said that the price was cheap so you pay for what you get I would stay again if it was a bigger room , shower ,toilet

Perfect location if you want to switch between beach and city in a few minutes.

The location was perfect, right next to Plage de Bon-Secours (tidal pool and nice beach bar) but also Intra Muros (within the city walls). A water cooker on the floor for all to use is nice and not usually provided in our experience.

The room was really small and not that easy to verntilate on hot days. The toillette was unusul, but worked just fine.

Amazing location, very clean hotel and friendly staff!

we loved how close to the beach we were and loved how easy it was to access the town. the property was very clean and our room was cleaned every day. the bed was very comfortable and we loved the Juliet balcony. there was always hot water for a shower. we ate in the hotel and the food was excellent and the service was always given with a smile. staff were very friendly and very helpful.

We believe that there was a dog staying in the room next to us which would bark whenever anyone would walk past the door. we were also awoken very early one morning by the dog barking. understand that people like to bring there pets on holiday and that this was no fault of the hotel but is just a little comment to be made. There was also a communal use toilet next to our room which people would use at all times of the day, the door would slam and sometimes people would be using it into the very early hours of the morning. Some mornings we were woken up by people slamming the door of the toilet, again not the hotels fault but was a slight negative to our holiday.

Bathroom was a saniflo. Noise was desperate when flushing from rooms upstairs. Door was sliding door on Bathroom that kept falling off the rails. Double bed was only suitable for single person.

Le Chien de Guet did not meet expectations.

We liked the location

Room too small, it was not an hotel it was bed and breakfast. The shower was in the corner of the room and was so small you had to squeeze out sideways. We are not obese people just average size and it was really difficult to get around the room as it was so small. No real wardrobe or dressing table and nowhere near enough sockets.
