Baía das Caldeirinhas

Our host, Francisca, was absolutely wonderful! She was extremely friendly, and was always available to assist us with any of our needs and very accommodating. She even had cold beverages in the refrigerator for our arrival! The apartment was spacious enough for our two couples, each with a private bath. The kitchen was very well equipped, which included plenty of dishes, flatware, and a dishwasher. The location is excellent! Very close (less than a block) to the beach, a couple of blocks to downtown, and right on a good hiking trail. The property has a community patio which has a nice view of the ocean, and our bedroom had a nice little veranda that overlooked our quaint street and small ocean view, while enjoying a morning coffee - pretty sunset views as well. Parking was available on the street, but was tight and not always available. However, the property does offer onsite parking in their garden area, through a gate.

Upon our arrival, nobody was at the office to pick up keys, which made for a confusing check-in proces. Biggest issue was that the A/C was inoperative, and we had to tolerate loud portable units that exhausted hot air, which made the apartment hot and stuffy. One bedroom does not have a door to the bathroom, only for the whole bedroom, and it occasionally had an intermittent sewer smell.

We love the location, we know Horta well and it was not a disappointment.

Arrival. We telephoned on arrival at airport and were told we would be welcomed at the property by the owners Mother. When we arrived, we had to wait for half an hour in the garden and when the very nice lady arrived she did not speak any English so we did not get a proper introduction to the facilities. However despite this the staff were very friendly and nice.
