Access to nature and walks around the place. Fresh food for the breakfast from the farm.
A little lack of intimacy as the terrace goes directly on a shared garden.

- We loved the bathroom - big, beautiful and with a very good shower. - The host was extremely nice, gave us lots of information, she noticed I had a cold and offered to bring lemons (really appreciated!) and some vegetables directly from the garden which we used to make a delicious dinner. - There is a friendly rabbit in the area, goats and sheep and free roaming peacocks. - The village has some restaurants, bars and grocery stores, a nice church with tiles, a really nice park with a small 'zoo' and a viewpoint. - We made a beautiful Levada walk in the nearby village - Machico. - Parking available right near the apartment. - Quiet!
Nothing not to like, however it's not luxury if that's what you are looking for

Nice location at the countryside in a forest
The fireplace was out of order so there was a high humidity.

We stayed here for one week as a family of four (two adults and two young children) and left with mixed feelings. On the positive side, the accommodation itself was a real highlight: we had a charming, spacious little house entirely to ourselves, which was perfect for a family. The surroundings are genuinely beautiful — green fields, roaming sheep, peacocks, and friendly animals that the kids absolutely loved. As a personal touch, the team kindly arranged a birthday cake, and even surprised us with a bottle of local Madeira wine. That gesture was truly appreciated.
Unfortunately, the experience was significantly affected by a number of practical shortcomings. Upon arrival, there was nobody present to carry out check-in, which set a frustrating tone from the start. Throughout the stay, there was no reception and no staff on site to address questions or concerns — all communication had to go through Booking.com, even for urgent matters. The property is listed as a hotel with breakfast included, but the service level was closer to a self-catering apartment. Room cleaning during the week was minimal, dishes were not washed, and bed linen and towels were not changed. Breakfast consisted of fresh bread, cold cuts, cheese, and milk restocked in the fridge, with a limited supply of eggs — nothing more. Coffee required prompting to be refilled, and coffee filters were not provided at all at the start. Towards the end of our stay, the upkeep seemed to decline further: kitchen towels ran out on the last day and were never replaced. The rooms are unheated, which may be typical for Madeira, but is worth noting. Hot water was available in the shower and kitchen, but not at the bathroom sink — which was also the only place with a mirror. The water pressure at the sink was very low, making washing or shaving impractical. Several buildings on the property appeared to be under active construction, which may have contributed to some of these issues. Overall, the impression was that the property is currently investing in renovation while cutting back on guest comforts and staffing. Had it been listed as a self-catering apartment, expectations would have been set accordingly and the experience would have felt much more positive. The location and the space genuinely have great potential — we just hope the service catches up once the building work is complete.
