Generally, 3-star is my low bar for hotel bookings, but I was seeking a stay specifically in the Belém neighborhood tacked on at the end of my vacation when my funds were running dry. In this particular case, air conditioning was the most important criterion. We were both surprised and delighted by the charm, location and comfort of this unique property. Our room was open and spacious, and this historic property offered modern amenities such as an elevator and vending machines for snacks, drinks and coffee at very reasonable prices.
Absolutely no complaints! You certainly don't expect 5-star luxury at a 2-star property, but Hotel Belem Tejo provided all the basics and much more, at a very reasonable price.
