    We booked Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda for a special family holiday to celebrate my 50th and my dad's 80th. We had a party of 8 people which seemed to be an inconvenience for the staff from the start! Check-in was a long and slow process in the blistering heat after a long journey. There was no welcome or even a drink of water whilst we waited. Once we eventually checked in the buggy was made available to take us to our rooms. My elderly parents with mobility issues were told to get in and out of the buggy multiple times and to stand on the side and wai with no shade. Whilst that was happening with our parents our luggage was left to one side whilst smaller parties continued to be taken to their rooms. I heard the bell boy say multiple times 'oh its a big party and many peices of luggage' - I had to interject after waiting patiently to say if it was 2 families it would be exactly the same so they needed to stop ignoring us and treating us like we were a problem! Only then did we get any movement. It was a very dissapointing start to the holiday. The rooms weren't great as locks broken on external doors, air conditioning not working and we had to move my parents but this wasn't possible until the following day, again that was an inconvenience for the staff. The rooms and facilities were basic and definitely not 5 star. We didnt get a 5 star service as the staff were not particularly attentive to their guests so not luxurious accomodation, foid was ok but the same most days and not the exceptional service you would expect for a 5 star hotel. All in all it was very basic and not the special holiday we were expecting.

    We booked this as a five star resort through Agoda. We were very misled. The hotel is very run down and in need of repairs. There is visible black mold all over the room and we are starting to get sick. We have not yet had this issue (thankfully) but several other groups we have talked to have found cockroaches in their rooms and have been having a hard time getting room changes. Concierge and customer service do not answer the phone, and most employees can’t really answer any questions about activities, etc. The beach is pretty but there are only about 10 chairs for tue entire resort. Restaurants are over filled and people are moved through like cattle. I do not recommend this hotel.

    Was pleasantly surprised with the hotel overall. Location was perfect the facilities were wonderful and me and my fiance really enjoyed our stay and would recommend again.

    The food is absolutely inedible. The rooms are clean, but the bathrooms are so old and unpleasant. The pools are lovely though.
