I was quite overwhelmed when we drove into the parking area in front of the hotel. I was so pleased that this beautiful hotel and town has been lovingly restored and tastefully decorated according to the time it was built. The room was comfortable, there was plenty of hot water, the food was amazing and the staff were lovely. The bus tour was great fun and our charming guide, John Vital, was very entertaining. We even had two trains come through the pristine railway station which was very special as most of SA's railway system is non-existent.
It was just a pity that there was no atmosphere in the stunning old pub next to the hotel, not even a welcoming fire in the beautiful fireplace or some music.

History, old charm.
Was too cold in rooms and restuarant. We missed a cosy space to sit and watch soccer. Need more fireplaces or heaters. Staff were loud in hallway early in the morning, their voices woke us up.
