Neil and Rosemary were simply the perfect hosts. You can tell that the service they provide is of paramount importance to them because it won't be beaten. We stayed in the French Lieutenant Room for 4 nights and it was absolutely magnificent. A huge bath was the center stage and the decor was simply brilliant. The service and quality of the breakfast is the best we have experienced in many years of travelling around. Honestly if you want to stay anywhere near Lyme Regis then look no further than Dower House.
That we only stayed for 4 days. We could try and be extra critical to give some balance to the review but we simply can't fault anything about the property that would justify a negative comment.

Very friendly staff. Super comfy bed and pillows. Made to feel at home.
Disappointing to have to pay £15 per dog to stay (we had 2) in a very small room. We did know about the price in advance, after having made the booking, but as the place said it would accept dogs, one assumed they would be accepted as part of the price.

I can’t fault this place. I came here 30 years ago and what Neil and Rosemary have done to the place is incredible. They were so accommodating and couldn’t do enough for us. After a long drive and a dog walk on route Neil came to the room with our drinks we ordered and it was exactly what we needed! We got to meet their beautiful Great Dane’s of which they have 4 but are kept separately, then had a tour of the hotel. We felt like we’d known both Neil and Rosemary for years and can’t wait to come back. I can’t recommend this place enough.
