The Hostellerie de l’ecu de Bretagne is ideally located in the centre of the attractive town

Location in the main square was excellent. Staff were professional, friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent in terms of range of food and quantity.

The room did not match the description of what I booked in several respects: It was on the first floor not the ground floor. There was no mini bar despite its inclusion in the room description. This was significant as, in the very warm weather we experienced, the ability to chill bottles of drinking water was non-existent! Annoyingly, the cold tap produced hot water for several minutes before cold appeared, presumably because of proximity to the hot water pipes. There were no bedside tables so keeping items beside the bed wasn’t possible, unless the floor was used. Bedside lighting was not suitable for reading in bed. That which was supplied, in an alcove that ran behind the bed, was not adequate enough, particularly for the left-hand occupant.

Fantastic welcome and hospitality in a charming hotel in a great location

Fantastic location, very welcoming and hospitable staff, spacious room, charming communal areas, relaxed atmosphere, plenty of opportunities to sit outside, although we didn't use the pool it looked lovely and pool towels were offered at reception. Good recommendations of where to eat in town and the reception staff booked for us. A marvellous and really enjoyable break in our journey.

Wonderful simple accommodation, fabulous location, very friendly helpful staff. Clean, everything basic that you need. We’ve stayed there in the summer too and there’s a great swimming pool.

Nothing. It is basic; good bed, clean shower room, nice fluffy towels. Ideally, it would be good to have better lighting for those who like to read in bed. Yea-making facilities in the bedroom would be nice too. But hey, it’s a simple hotel. You can get tea at the breakfast area at reception.

Everything. This is a beautiful old-established hotel in the centre of a lovely small mediaeval town. It has off-road parking, a very decent open-air swimming pool, friendly staff, comfortable and characterful rooms, quiet location and one of the best French hotel breakfasts ever. We will be back!

Pleasant, comfortable room. We asked for a room with a bath and were provided with one. Good breakfast. Easy parking. Great location in centre of lovely small town.

Poor lighting in room. The restaurant is currently closed due to lack of staff. We may have gone elsewhere if we had known that in advance but had a good meal in a nearby alternative, having been provided with a list of possibilities by the hotel.

The hotel 'L'Ecu de Bretagne' was a very good choice. To be recommended!

The 'superior' room was a positive surprise. Very nice, clean and with a lot of space. Very nice bathroom! The hotel is located in the center of Beaugency so that it was very easy to visit the medieval small city. The hotel offers a (secured) parking facility inside the walls of the hotel. The breakfast was very good. Knowing now the distances to the various castles, I would have stayed a few days longer than for one night, and would have used the hotel as base for visiting several castles. If I would come back to that region, I would for sure return to that hotel.

The restaurant/bistro adjacent/linked to the hotel was closed. Do'nt know if closed definitively. However there are a few restaurants on walking distance. Recommend the restaurant 'Teo Jasmin'.

Convenience, location and value-for-money.

Location is fantastic right in the heart of town , free parking on-premise makes it very convenient for folks who drove (like we did) and its value for money.

Curtains should close fully to prevent light from streaming in in the morning. 1 of the table lamps had white light, could have been warm light for cosier feel and to be the same as the other table lamp.
