Magnificent, really worth staying
Absolutely beautiful, next to the Rhein river watching the big boats go by. Interior of hotel magnificent and staff friendly and professional.

A fine hotel but perhaps in danger of falling back.
The hotel's location, right on the bank of the Rhine was very good, but made the last part of driving to it a test of nerve as you have to negotiate some very narrow streets in the centre of the town. (What little I saw of the centre looked very interesting, but unfortunately on this trip I didn't have time to explore it further.) Happily I didn't meet anything coming the other way as one of us would have had to back up a fair distance and I was in a rental car I had only been driving for about 40mins! The hotel is well established and the interior is decorated to a high standard, but the local family who ran it for many years and built its reputation have passed on running it to new people. I hope they will be able to maintain the same high standards.. There are many beautiful wooden doors that have been polished to a very high shine. My room was generally very comfortable.
There were a lot of little things. Being charged 10euros a night for parking in the hotel's car parks. The floor of the bathroom had not been cleaned - or if it had it had not been properly dried as you could see dried up drops of something on the tiles. The sink "plug", the kind operated by a lever behind the taps, would not stay down so you couldn't fill the sink. The restaurant, though completely part of the main hotel building, seems to be run as a separate entity. The menu has a very wide variety of Indian dishes, but I have an excellenbt award winning Indian restuarant in my home town and when I veist another country I would hoope to be able to sample some of the dishes specific to that region. There were no condiments on any of the tables. My request to reserve a table when I arrived at reception didn't seem to have been passed on.. The restaurant staff didn't seem to have heard of Asbach brandy!
