It was in a very good location, close to the beach and also to some of the nightlife (funky place, poco and bar and ball)

The sheets didn’t seem clean and there were cockroaches in the room. There also wasn’t air on, only a fan

We only stayed ten minutes at Apollo Hostel, very uncomfortable experience

I suppose this hostel might suit some travelers in Indonesia, but it wasn’t for us.

I could say a lot about this place, but we only stayed for 10 minutes. It was a very uncomfortable moment for us when he showed us the facilities and we decided to leave. I felt sorry for the owner because it’s not his fault. We hadn’t seen anything so bad in such a long time. It’s a simple hostel with bunk beds and a very very basic shared bathroom. It’s acceptable if your budget is very VERY low, but there were options across the street for a price not too much higher, but with much better facilities. The "pool" is tiny, the rooms are small, dark, and full of cobwebs, so we didn’t feel comfortable leaving our things there. I didn’t feel very safe, though the owner seemed nice. We thanked him and paid for our stay even though we didn’t sleep there, choosing another place to rest that night.

A Pleasant Stay

I had a very pleasant stay at Apollo Hostel. Its owner was very welcoming and even invited me for a round of dominos and evening drink during my night there. The accommodation is basic but has everything you need for a nights stay, especially if you are doing the dolphin tour the next morning early. You can also book this tour here for a very reasonable price. If you are simply looking for a roof over your head and a good night sleep for a great price, this is the spot.

I stayed here with two friends and we absolutely loved our time at Apollo Hostel. Everything about this place exceeded our expectations — especially for the price, which is honestly unbeatable in Lovina. The vibe is amazing: super relaxed, welcoming, and friendly. The staff made us feel at home from day one and were always happy to help with anything we needed. The dorms were clean and comfy, with good A/C, and the common areas were perfect for meeting other travellers or just chilling after a long day. The location is great too — just a short walk to the beach, dolphin tours, and local warungs. We also appreciated the little details like the free tea and coffee, the clean bathrooms, and the cozy atmosphere. If you’re travelling on a budget but still want to feel comfortable and connected, this place is a gem. We only stayed a couple of nights but honestly, we could have stayed way longer. Highly recommend!

Nice, but primitive

There is airconditioning now!! The host is very kind and is prepared to do anything for his guests. He took me to a beautiful waterfall and hot spring. He's very patient and funny too! We played a lot of games, and please if you can beat him at dominoes it would also be a victory for me (I lost a lot haha) It's kind of primitive, which I actually liked! But you still have everything you need. And ask if you can do the scuba diving day trip! It is totally worth it!!

The hostel isn't very hygienic, so definitely wear slippers or bathroom shoes if you need to! The beds were a bit thin and the ladder to the top bunk were a bit broken. I also went on the dolphin trip, but I think it was unethical. The dolphins were being chased by all the little boat and almost had no space to take a breath. I don't recommend it if you love animals. But it was still very cool to see them!

A Special place!

If you are going to fuss about everything don’t book it. Apollo hostel is a special place just for survivors. Internet is good. No air con. Just fan, maybe you get two! Empty swimming pool which it is amazing thinking that you could have a bath after a long day walking. Apollo nights are different! You get involved with people playing domino and if you are lucky someone can play a guitar. There’s a cajón flamenco which i used it and we had a little concert. Tbh it’s a special place. If you book it go with no standards and you will really enjoy the energy of Apollo Hostel!

Paradise Lost in Bali

Great attention to your needs and very helpful about arranging tours or simply making your stay an enjoyable experience. Good location close to many amenities, and the beach is a short walk away.

The pool was empty...the owner could spend less time playing chess....and focus more on getting the pool in proper order. That would add a super addition to the space. Nomads would love it! Grow flowers at the entrance...add brighter colors to the grey zones. Invite a talking parrot to take up residence 😉 Teach it Italian and Inuktitut words.

Good enough value for money, not the best.

Good hostel to stay one or two nights considering the price. Don't expect a lot though. I got a private room as it was only slightly more expensive, but next time I would choose the shared rooms that looked much better and more comfortable. The staff is social and encourages others to socialise with a bit of playing dominos and drinking rice wine.

The shared facilities were good enough clean, but just old looking and not the best. While taking a shower, a cockroach joined me on the wall, but then again, it's the tropics so don't be too scared of that. The back (pool) area looked a bit useless. Even if there would be a drying rack or something else would be better than now.

The shower water smelled like ocean water and the toilet didn't have water to wash after doing the business. I had to use tissue, that works for Western people, but for me as an Asian, I would have appreciated it if there was a water pipe.

What a great hostel and people! I had such a great stay and met some amazing people! Location is amazing (pure center of Lovina), price is affordable and the staff is the best! Huge thanks to Ayu for helping me with everything possible during my stay! 🥰 The owner is also really kind and chilled person! The hostel vibe and like minded travelers makes you stay longer than expected which was my case. I highly recommend this hostel and I will come here for sure if I visit Northern Bali again! Terima Kasih! ☺️

The owner is an amazing dude. Type of guy that'll give you his shirt off his back. Offered great prices for tours and such. The domino games and guitar in the evenings were fun.

Happy in Apollo Hostel

The Apollo Hostel has two idyllic outdoor areas. The outdoor area behind the house even has a direct view of the mountains and a rice field. Here you can perfectly unwind. The beach is only a 7 minute walk away. I would love to come back!

Not amazing

The location is good very close to the beach and restaurants. It was easy to get to and go wherever I wanted near shops and stuff

The fan was very small and made the room very stuffy. It gave off prison vibes massively the decor was dated and was more like a hut than a hotel. The shower light was very dim and the lock on the toilet was very bad. There were also lots of creature in the shower from cockroaches to spiders to centipedes did not feel comfortable showing especially not with shoes on The host will try get as much money out of you as possible. Do not do trips with him he didn’t arrange good ones just with his friends boat who is really bad. He will guilt trip you into going on trip and be upset when you tell him no so just bare in mind when first telling him what you want to do. I had to wait almost two hours for check in despite telling him when I would be there and messaging him when I arrived
