We had a brilliant time at LKNZ lodge. We originally booked a basic room with shared bathroom, but on arrival were kindly upgraded on account of it being Mardi Gras weekend and there being lots of partiers. We therefore stayed in an ensuite room with a kitchenette which was amazing. Room was never cold, bed comfy, plenty of room for things, enough in the kitchenette for all the basics and good showers. Thankfully were not kept awake by any loud music/partiers.
Did not end up needing to use any shared facilities so can't speak for them. Used the sauna/hot tub one night which we had to ourselves and were great. Did not get a chance to enjoy a breakfast in the cafe but coffees were good. Overall feel quite loyal and would definitely stay again if back in Ohakune. Great base for exploring the wider Taranaki National park and we did several hikes and cycles (including the local Old Coach Road) whilst there. Good position in town with easy access (5 min walk) to various restaurants, supermarket and ski/bike hire shops.
Can't think of anything obvious to improve.

We stayed in a family room with ensuite (and balcony) and because it was offseason had the whole lodge pretty much to ourselves and had full run of the well stocked share kitchen and lounge areas.

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at LKNZ LODGE it was very well placed with a nice view of mount Ruapehu next time we plan to book e bikes to explore all the trails with spectacular views.
