Two Rivers Boutique Lodge Ohakune

There are places one stays when travelling that you almost don’t want to write a review for because you’ll give away the secret of how great the place is. In this case, that place is the Two Rivers Bed & Breakfast in Ohakune. (www.TwoRiversOhakune) We initially spent three nights at Ula and Scott’s accommodation, and roughly a week later another night in one of their other (of three) cottages. The rooms were incredibly bright, cosy, clean, well designed, and nicely equipped, with, for example, our luggage fitting under the beds as is done on a cruise ship. The location is stunningly beautiful beside two converging rivers. We were extremely pleased with the breakfast available in our room both in terms of its quality and quantity. Additionally, because we had early morning activities on some of the days, and late morning sleep-ins on others, we could have breakfast at the time and pace that best suited us. Ula and Scott are amazing hosts, checking that everything was all right, providing suggestions when we wanted (places to eat and visit), and general information about the area. They are passionate about Ohakune and the central part of the North Island, and this easily transfers to you as their guests. In summary Two Rivers has been one of the highlights of our month long adventure in New Zealand. We are already making plans to return again in the future. Janet & Gordon Walker Alberta, Canada.

Beautiful location between beside rivers with view of Mt Ruapehu (cloud permitting). Hosts were very welcoming and gave friendly advice about local walks. We did the Mangawhero Forest Walk which took around an hour along well maintained trails through stunning forest, recommended. For dinner we did a nice walk through forest to town centre takes about 15 mins. We came back via roads after dark. Room was quiet and comfortable with outdoor terrace and hot tub. It was quite small without much storage space but okay for a short stay. A continental breakfast was provided in the fridge. Ideal mid way stopping off point for us from Rotorua to Wellington.

Our hosts were very kind and attentive. The room was newly renovated and impeccably clean. Breakfast was solid. Overall, our stay was very pleasant and I highly recommend Two Rivers Okahune.
