Pousada Paloma

Really great breakfast, fresh and tasty. The staff was very helpful with having someone meet us at the pier with our luggage when my friend and I were departing soon after returning from an excursion. Nice, clean facilities and cute cats

I wish we had had a warning that the walk from the pier is quite bumpy, would have been nice to know so we would have hired someone to help with our luggage on the way in as it’s a bit of a long walk if you’re not carrying a backpack, especially if it’s raining

Very cozy posada. Friendly staff. Breakfast was perfect, different options each morning.

Had trouble with shower then later realized there was a plug to drain water in shower.

In the main town of Abraão so very close to all the restaurants, shops and lovely beachfront. Helpful staff. Quite a good breakfast. Lots of great hiking and beaches easily accessible without having to go on an organised trip, can walk straight from hotel and they suggested the best trails to us.

Very damp smell all the time in the room even with the ventilator on maximum. Little pool of water formed across the bathroom every night which we’d have to mop up. Quite dark. Room quite small, not much space to unpack.

The common areas of the pousada are nice. That is the nicest part of the place. The reception staff was very friendly and professional. The breakfast/kitchen staff were less friendly. One woman there in particular was really grumpy each day.

I can't speak for any other room than Room #5, where I stayed. I was probably the cheapest room in the pousada so I guess I probably got what I paid for. And now I see other reviews saying the same things that I am: Things that were really bad about Room #5: It had a very strong smell of mold in the room and the bathroom smelled like sewar gas. Closing the drain cover helped the reduce the sewer gas smell. The room has no direct sunlight and little ventilation. It is VERY noisy because it is directly below the kitchen and has an open space outside the only window that is directly below the kitchen. So the noise (banging, plates, voices etc) starts early with breakfast and end late with dinner. If you want the window open, you have to listen to the noise and voices. There is also loud fan in the shower that runs continuously to keep some air moving. The bathroom is so tiny it's hard for even me, a small to regular sized person to move in it. The shower hot water is electric so the pressure needs to slow to a trickle to get hot water. I asked to move, mostly because of the mold smell, but there were no other rooms available. Trying to use the internet here was basically useless. I'm glad I was only there for 2 nights.
